Tottenham may still be keen on landing Houssem Aouar from Lyon this summer, despite being close to agreeing a deal for Metz’s Pape Sarr. Spurs are looking to bolster their squad ahead of transfer deadline day.
The north London side have been busy in the transfer market this summer, bringing in Sevilla winger Bryan Gil and Atalanta defender Christian Romero, while Pierluigi Gollini has joined the club on loan.
Spurs have now turned their attentions to highly-rated French youngster Pape Sarr and the club apparently held talks with Metz chairman Patrick Razurel earlier this week.
But, according to Sky Sports, if Sarr does agree a deal with Tottenham, he will remain on loan with his current club for this season.
Sarr, who already has two caps for Senegal, has started Metz’s opening two Ligue 1 games of the campaign.
The 18-year-old defensive midfielder is viewed as one of the biggest talents in French football.

With Spurs midfielder Tanguy Ndombele apparently set to depart the club this summer, potentially for Bayern Munich, the club may still seek another signing in the middle.
With Sarr remaining in his home country for another 12 months, Spurs will be a man light if Ndombele does depart.
And according to the Daily Mirror, Spurs are keen on Aouar, who is said to have been placed on Lyon’s transfer list by sporting director Juninho.
The midfielder was part of the side which came in for criticism after last Sunday’s 3-0 defeat to Angers.
That loss left Lyon 17th in the Ligue 1 table after two games and resulted in a number of first-team stars being put up for sale as bosses look to address an ‘attitude problem’ at the club.

Lyon are now apparently willing to allow Aouar to depart the club for a cut-price £25million.
A string of Premier League clubs have been placed on high alert and Tottenham will face a battle to capture the player.
Liverpool are apparently long-time admirers of the midfielder, while Arsenal are said to be interested in taking the 23-year-old to the Emirates.
One man who thinks Spurs could land Aouar this summer is former England striker Kevin Phillips.
“Any player you try to sign from France, you have that benefit of being a Premier League club,” Phillips recently told Football Insider.
“If you can get him for that kind of money, just go and do it – it’s as simple as that. If you have the chance to get one over on Arsenal then it’s a good bit of business.
“I can see it. Nuno knows what he’s doing and that’s important. He will know how he wants his Tottenham team to play.”
Though Sarr looks to be headed to Spurs, signing Aouar too is still a possibility. It may depend on what happens with Ndombele, however.
