West Ham are interested in signing Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius when he returns from his loan move at Besiktas this summer.

The German was shipped out to the Turkish giants in the summer of 2018 after his catastrophic errors in that summer’s Champions League final helped Real Madrid defeat Jurgen Klopp’s side in Kiev.

His form has not massively improved in Turkey either, making a series of errors that have led Besiktas not to bother making his loan deal permanent.

Karius last played competitively for Liverpool in the horrific 2018 Champions League final

Besiktas have the option of turning Karius’ loan into a permanent deal for just £7.25million but they are not planning to trigger the clause, reports claimed last month.

But now, according to Voetbal, Karius is now on West Ham’s radar ahead of a possible summer switch.

The Hammers have used four goalkeeper this season with Lukasz Fabianski, Darren Randolph, Roberto and Darren Randolph all playing between the sticks due to injury problems and poor form.

The report claims West Ham may be able to buy Karius for just £4.5m this summer, making him a relatively low-risk purchase for David Moyes.

It is claimed they face competition from Sporting Lisbon and Anderlecht though.

He has since been playing for Besiktas in Turkey but has failed to catch the eye in goal

Karius arrived at Anfield in the summer of 2016 and battled for the No 1 with Simon Mignolet. He eventually won the starting berth and played in Jurgen Klopp’s team that reached the 2018 Champions League final.

It was a disaster for the German though. He threw the ball directly at Karim Benzema for their first goal before flapping at a long-range effort from Gareth Bale that crept over the line.

Concerns over his form continued during pre-season of 2018-19, forcing Liverpool to spend big on Alisson and that left Karius in the cold.

The 26-year-old has made 32 appearances for Besiktas this season across the Turkish League and Europa League but has made high-profile errors – including against Slovan Bratislav in the latter competition in September.
