West Ham ‘think Man Utd would meet demands for Rice transfer’ in new twist

Declan Rice: Manchester United and Chelsea target profiled

West Ham think Manchester United would meet their demands for Declan Rice this summer, according to reports. The England international is widely expected to leave the London Stadium for a new challenge. Arsenal are also keen on the 24-year-old – who apparently wants to stay in London.

Rice has long been a consistent performer for West Ham, while he’s also been a regular under Gareth Southgate for England in recent years.

There is a feeling the 24-year-old will leave the Hammers come the end of the season, having evolved considerably during his spell at the London Stadium.

And the Daily Mail say that while Arsenal want Rice, United are keen as well.

It’s claimed the Gunners are expected to soon lodge a £90million offer for the England international, which they’ll do via a ‘structure’.

But West Ham ‘would demand considerably more’ to part ways with their prized asset and think United ‘would meet their demands’.

Rice’s preference would be to stay in London.

Man Utd transfers: Ten Hag wants another Pogba and it makes sense

But Arsenal are drawing up a list of alternatives in case they miss out, with Martin Zubimendi, Ruben Neves and Moises Caicedo all on their radar.

Rice isn’t the only midfielder being linked with a move to United as the summer transfer window approaches.

The Red Devils remain interested in signing Frenkie de Jong, having missed out on the player a year ago.

However, the Netherlands international has made it clear he’s loving life at Barcelona – having helped them recently win the La Liga title.

United have also been linked with a move for Juventus star Adrien Rabiot, too.

Like De Jong, the France international was pursued by Erik ten Hag to no avail last year – with the wage demands made by his mother preventing a deal from going through.

United did agree a fee for Rabiot, however.

And with the 28-year-old set to become a free agent this summer, it’s possible he’ll make a controversial move to Old Trafford.

Leicester star Youri Tielemans is apparently being ‘followed’ by the club as they look to bolster their midfield.

And United have also been tipped to pursue James Maddison, who has been a shining light for the Foxes amid a poor season so far.

West Ham boss David Moyes has spent most of his time in the dugout batting away questions over Rice’s future.

However, earlier in the month, the Scot admitted there was a ‘good chance’ the player would jump ship.

“We honestly hope he stays,” said Moyes.

“We’d love for him to be a West Ham player but we are aware that might not be the case at the end of the season.

“So that’s one of the scenarios around planning.

“There are plans that we have Dec here but we’re also fully aware there is a good chance we won’t have him.”

He added: “The planning has been put on the back burner. It’s always been about making sure you’re a Premier League club.

“Your planning will go completely if you weren’t.

“A lot of it will only start to go into place once we’ve realised we have kept our Premier League place.

“We’re watching a lot of players, a lot of games, doing a lot of scouting, but the truth is the focus has been on staying in the Premier League.”
