Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag kicked five players out of his dressing room in the early days of his reign at Old Trafford. Express Sport looks at what happened to each of those players a year on from their banishment.
Ten Hag was appointed United manager in the summer of 2022. He made several high-profile signings in his first transfer window in charge.
Antony and Lisandro Martinez were brought in from his former club Ajax, while five-time Champions League winner Casemiro joined from Real Madrid. He bolstered the midfield resources following the free signing of Christian Eriksen, while Tyrell Malacia made the switch from Feyenoord.
Ten Hag had to make room in his dressing room for his new recruits. The Sun claimed last September that he kicked five players out and Express Sport looks at where each of those individuals are now.

Phil Jones
Jones didn’t make a single appearance in Ten Hag’s first campaign in charge. The defender couldn’t get over his injury problems and was not considered a first-team player by his new boss.
Jones left on a free transfer at the end of last season. He is yet to find a new club after 12 years on the books at United.
Brandon Williams
Williams made just one appearance for United after being kicked out of the dressing room. He came off the bench for the final five minutes of the Carabao Cup win over Burnley last December.
The full-back remained in the wilderness for the remainder of the campaign. Williams has joined Ipswich on loan for this season and has already played three times for the Championship side.

Teden Mengi
Mengi didn’t play for United at all last season after previously making two appearances at senior level for the Red Devils. The defender missed much of the campaign with a serious hamstring injury.
Mengi first joined United at the age of seven. However, his association with the club ended after completing a permanent move to Luton late in the summer window.
Axel Tuanzebe
Tuanzebe didn’t play a minute in the first half of last season due to injury. He left to join Stoke on loan in January but featured just five times for the Championship side.
The defender was released by United at the end of his contract in June. Tuanzebe is yet to find a new club but is set to have a trial with Ipswich during the international break.
Shola Shoretire
Shoretire also didn’t feature under Ten Hag up until January. He left to join Bolton on loan and played 16 times as the Trotters fell just short of promotion.
The attacker featured in a couple of United’s pre-season friendlies against Leeds and Wrexham. Shoretire didn’t find a loan move late in the summer so could be confined to youth football between now and the winter window.
