Wolves players blast refs and VAR declaring ‘I give up – it’s ruining football’

Wolves stars Mario Lemina and Matheus Cunha have each vented their frustrations at the officiating in their 3-2 defeat to Fulham.

Gary O'Neil's side, who have been on the receiving end of several incorrect decisions this season, had two penalties given against them at Craven Cottage on Monday (November 27) – one of which referee Michael Salisbury later admitted was an error.

The hosts were also perhaps fortunate to still have 11 men on the pitch come full-time with Tim Ream escaping a second yellow card after bringing down Hwang Hee-Chan for another spot kick and Carlos Vinicius only getting booked for an apparent headbutt on Max Kilman.

After losing in the 94th minute as Willian converted his second pen of the night, O'Neil made his feelings perfectly clear post-match – and two of his players have followed suit.

Taking to Instagram, Lemina posted on his story calling for changes to made after the latest controversies: "I've always tried to understand that to referee, it's not easy at all.

"I've always tried to say to the players that we could do better during the game to win it. But now I give up. Enough is enough. Some strong decisions need to be taken. These things are ruining football."

Cunha echoed the sentiments of his team-mate, sharing his own post in which he wrote: "Tough result but we continue together. We will never look for excuses outside, but some decisions against us have to bear greater responsibility.

O'Neil reckons his side are seven points worse off than they should be in the Premier League table, which would take them from 12th up to ninth. They travel to face Arsenal this coming weekend before back-to-back home games against Burnley and Nottingham Forest.
