Wrexham fans have expressed their disgust at the prices of the club's new merchandise – including a £153 hoody.

The Welsh side have been flying high since their February 2021 takeover by Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, whose investment helped them earn promotion to League Two where they currently sit third in the table.

But the positivity has been put on pause after their social media team announced their "exclusive premium leisurewear", a new winter range of clothing from kit supplier Macron which was modelled by the players.

The cheapest product on offer is a £63 grey sweatshirt with the club badge in the centre. Ascending in price, fleece trousers cost £68, while a half-zip hoody is £86.

The waterproof version, however, comes in at £153, with a black or navy gilet £126. The most expensive item is the £180 waterproof coat, also available in the choice of two colours.

The pricing earned heavy backlash from supporters, who reminded their club of the current economic struggles in the UK. One responded: "£150, in this climate, is honestly insulting."

A second exclaimed: "Christ. Need a financing program for these. Wild." And a third bemoaned: "The thought of paying a weeks-plus rent for a hoodie is nauseating, I can’t even afford name brand ketchup yet."

"Those prices are an absolute disgrace. Should be boycotted," argued a fourth, while a fifth fumed: "Meant to be a working class club, these prices aren't for the people of Wrexham."

A sixth vented: "£153 for a Macron hoody with the club crest on it. A greedy, out-of-touch, money grab that undermines the supposed community values being plugged. Yes, you don’t *have* to buy, that’s not the point. How long until other aspects of the club become so unaffordable?"

It comes after Reynolds said he felt like he was going to "throw up" after learning how much money he and McElhenney had lost since buying the club. In an episode from the second series of their Welcome to Wrexham documentary, they were told by board member Shaun Harvey it was in excess of £10million.
