Conor McGregor has been beaten by Dustin Poirier at UFC 257.

The Irishman was stunned by 'The Diamond' in the second round, being knocked out after a barrage of punches.

Poirier left referee Herb Dean no choice, with McGregor bloodied and cowering on the Octagon floor.

Both men were magnanimous after the fight, with McGregor vowing to return in the near future.

Poirier has himself put himself in the picture when it comes to clashing with Khabib Nurmagomedov should he come out of retirement.

Poirier started the better of the two men, taking McGregor down early in the first round.

But the Irishman soon landed a couple of shoulder strikes similar to those we saw against Donald Cerrone last year.

Round two saw McGregor's boxing come into play, landing some solid combinations.

However, the Notorious was stunned, with his leg giving way, allowing Poirier to capitalise with short, sharp punches before the referee swiftly called time.
