Jake Paul, the YouTube star turned professional boxer, has boldly claimed he’s now a bigger name in the sports world than UFC legend Conor McGregor.
He confidently stated that if McGregor ever agreed to a boxing match with him, he would “beat his ass”. In an interview with DAZN, Paul said: “A fight between me and McGregor would be massive, entertaining and fun. I would beat his ass but he won’t fight me.
“At this point you can see how it went from me calling him out and that seeming crazy to me being bigger in the sport than he is and him knowing my skill level is greater than his in such a short amount time. Life is crazy.”
McGregor, 35, has only boxed professionally once, losing to Floyd Mayweather in 2017. Meanwhile, Paul, 26, boasts a record of 7-1 as a boxer and is set to return to the ring this Friday against Andre August, 35.
Paul suffered his first defeat in February at the hands of Tommy Fury, 24, in a split-decision loss in Saudi Arabia. However, he bounced back in August by defeating McGregor’s old UFC rival Nate Diaz, 38, on points.
Paul is gearing up to face the relatively unknown August in a non-pay-per-view match, as he aims to gain more experience against seasoned pros.
He said: “I’m a professional boxer and I want to be world champion, so I need to pursue the path towards greatness against people who have been boxing their whole life. So far, my entire boxing career has been on pay-per-view, but now it’s about more than business.

“Now I want to build my experience in the ring against seasoned fighters. I’m coming to prove my greatness for the world to see.”
For years, Paul has been challenging the Irish UFC superstar, labelling him as ‘lost’ – after not fighting since 2021. McGregor suffered a broken leg in his loss to Dustin Poirier, but is set to return next summer against Michael Chandler.
