Novak Djokovic is into the US Open quarter-finals following his routine win over Borna Gojo in the fourth round at Flushing Meadows. The Serb, who screamed at his box on several occasions during the match, will face Taylor Fritz in the last eight as he hunts down a fourth title in New York.

Fritz has never beaten Djokovic in any of their seven previous meetings and will be the clear underdog when he goes up against the 36-year-old on Tuesday. However, it will certainly be a tough match for the latter, who is under no illusions regardiing the scale of the challenge he faces against the top-ranked American player.

“Taylor has been an established top-10 player for the past couple of years and he’s been playing some terrific tennis, particularly on home soil in hard-court tournaments here in the States,” said Djokovic after his win over Gojo.

“He’s improved so much over the years. Obviously the matches will only get tougher from here onwards, and I’m ready for the challenge.”

Carlos Alcaraz, meanwhile, will be hoping to join Djokovic in the last eight by beating Matteo Arnaldi in his fourth-round match later today.
