Sancho hit back at Erik ten Hag’s reasons for leaving him out of the Man United squad

Ten Hag claimed the winger was dropped for his ‘training performance’, which Sancho denies

He said: ‘I don’t understand why Erik ten Hag would out him publicly and chuck him under the bus.’

After Ladyman responded that the Dutchman gave a ‘straight answer’ to a question, Sutton fired back: ‘Well don’t give a straight answer because the consequence of that is there is a good chance you’re going to lose a talented player.

‘By the way, I don’t agree with Sancho and the way he’s responded. What happened to going to knock on the manager’s door if a manager has outed you publicly?

‘I think it’s a really stupid thing for Ten Hag to do. I mean it looks like Sancho’s days are numbered at Manchester United.’

Ladyman referred back to Sancho’s absence from the squad last season, in which Ten Hag said that the England international was not ‘physically or mentally’ ready to play.

The Mail Sport writer said that it would have been unfair on Sancho if people thought those problems had come back if Ten Hag had decided to go down the route of not commenting on his absence against Arsenal.

Sutton suggested Ten Hag could have said that Sancho had a minor injury, to which Ladyman said that would have been a lie.

The former Blackburn, Norwich and Celtic striker replied: ‘But is that better than making an enemy of a player? Manchester United this season haven’t hit the straps and a fit and firing Jadon Sancho would be a real asset. It looks like he’s finished at Manchester United.

The 23-year-old took to social media to explain why he thinks he is being used as a ‘scapegoat’

‘If you’re Jadon Sancho how do you feel about being outed publicly? You need to have the backing from the manager.

‘Kenny Dalglish (at Blackburn) used to say things in the sanctuary of the dressing room. He’d go out to you guys in the press and say something totally different than he did to the players.

‘When managers do that they always have the dressing room with them. As soon as you start calling a player out publicly then there’s a problem.’

Sutton then insisted that it was ‘wrong’ for Sancho to go on social media, and that Ten Hag wouldn’t have dropped him if the 23-year-old was playing at his best level.

He added: ‘He’s a talented player, looks like Ten Hag doesn’t want him.

‘Sancho should be an asset for Manchester United but it looks like his days are numbered.’

Sancho’s future at Old Trafford looks uncertain following his response to Ten Hag online

Sancho is yet to start a game this season after coming off the bench in United’s first three games.

After Ten Hag’s comments over his absence in the match against Arsenal, Sancho wrote on social media: ‘Please don’t believe everything you read!’ I will not allow people to say things that are completely untrue. I have conducted myself in training very well this week.

‘I believe there are other reasons for this matter that I won’t go into, I’ve been a scapegoat for a long time which isn’t fair!

‘All I want to do is play football with a smile on my face and contribute to the team. I respect all decisions that are made by the coaching staff, I play with fantastic players and I am grateful to do so, which I know every week is a challenge. I will continue to fight for this badge no matter what!’

It’s All Kicking Off is an exciting new podcast from Mail Sport that promises a different take on Premier League football.

It is available on MailOnline, Mail+, YouTube , Apple Music and Spotify
