Wayne Rooney is reportedly being pursued by Birmingham City to succeed John Eustace as manager.<\/p>\n
Blues boss Eustace has recently been linked with several jobs after impressing in his first full season in charge. Among those understood to be interested in the Englishman are Scottish giants Rangers.<\/p>\n
Should a move materialise, it would leave Birmingham short of a manager five games into the Championship season, where they currently sit in fourth place.<\/p>\n
Current D.C. United head coach Rooney, 37, has therefore been considered as the unbeaten side\u2019s next manager, potentially following Tom Brady through the door after the NFL legend became an investor.<\/p>\n

The Telegraph reports owners Shelby Companies Limited have discussed making a big-name appointment following their takeover in July as they look to achieve Premier League promotion after 13-years away.<\/p>\n
Rooney recently admitted his future with the MLS side was uncertain and is believed to want a return to English football. His current contract with D.C. United expires in December.<\/p>\n
