Dominik Szoboszlai’s girlfriend Fanni Gecsek has appeared to take a swipe at Romeo Lavia after reportedly she liked a post trolling him following his difficult start to life at Chelsea – having snubbed Liverpool to play for the Blues.

Lavia looked certain to join the Reds this summer before rejecting a move to Jurgen Klopp’s side in favour of Chelsea, who he signed for in a £58million deal from Southampton.

However, the 19-year-old is yet to feature for Chelsea amid a battle with fitness after hardly playing or training for the Saints while his future was up in the air – and he has now suffered an ankle injury in training to compound his woes.

Meanwhile, Szoboszlai – who arrived at Liverpool from RB Leipzig for £60m – has enjoyed a confident start at Anfield, starting the club’s first four games and making a real impact, capping it off with a screamer in the 3-0 win over Aston Villa.

Lavia struggles were mocked by one fan who created a photo collage of Lavia looking frustrated on the bench alongside Szoboszlai celebrating for Liverpool.

The post in question from a Liverpool fan mocked Lavia for ‘playing for money’ while claiming Szoboszlai was ‘playing for passion’ after his superb start at Liverpool

Lavia famously snubbed Liverpool for Chelsea and has now suffered a fresh injury in training

On the picture of Lavia, the fan wrote ‘playing for money’, while on the photo of Szoboszlai it read ‘playing for passion’. Lavia is reportedly earning around £100,000 a week at Stamford Bridge.

Eagle-eyed fans have noticed that Szoboszlai’s girlfriend Gecsek had been among the names to have liked the post as Liverpool fans revelled in the success of their new buy – as well as the plight of the player who rejected them.

Gecsek, 21, has been in a relationship with Szoboszlai since 2020 and is known for being a budding tennis player as a youngster and mostly recently her modelling work – regularly posing in glamorous photos uploaded onto her Instagram account.

She has also shared plenty of photos alongside Szoboszlai, including one of the pair beaming while holding the German Cup, which he won with Leipzig last season.

Lavia’s snub of Liverpool was the second player who opted to move to Chelsea this summer after Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo also chose Mauricio Pochettino’s side. Liverpool had three bids turned down for Lavia, who Mail Sport later revealed preferred a move to west London.

Lavia was set to have his injury assessed on Friday after he went over on his ankle during a session on Thursday following a challenge.

It compounds the difficulties Chelsea have had in the fitness room this season – having already lost Wesley Fofana, Mhkailo Mudryk, Reece James, Benoit Badiashille, Christopher Nkunku and Carney Chukwuemeka to injury.

Speaking previously on Lavia’s struggles for fitness, Chelsea boss Pochettino said he was ‘not ready’ for minutes so far this season.

‘Lavia no [not ready to start].’ he said before their 3-0 Premier League win against Luton Town last month.

Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino has urged caution over Lavia and said he was not ready for regular minutes

‘He needs a few weeks to be ready to be involved with the team. He is working to try and catch his team-mates.

‘For Romeo we need to wait a few weeks. He’s not had enough minutes in pre-season.

‘I don’t think I’d ask him to start a game after the minutes he has had and everything that is going on.

‘In these situations, you think back to yourself as a 19-year-old. How would you cope with that? He’s been great, some days much better than others, but there has been so much noise and he is a really top lad and really top player.

‘Romeo is getting fitter and fitter, and trained really well.’
