{"id":290267,"date":"2023-09-08T14:36:13","date_gmt":"2023-09-08T14:36:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/allmysportsnews.com\/?p=290267"},"modified":"2023-09-08T14:36:13","modified_gmt":"2023-09-08T14:36:13","slug":"anthony-joshua-backs-cristiano-ronaldo-to-beat-lionel-messi-in-a-fight","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/allmysportsnews.com\/soccer\/anthony-joshua-backs-cristiano-ronaldo-to-beat-lionel-messi-in-a-fight\/","title":{"rendered":"Anthony Joshua backs Cristiano Ronaldo to beat Lionel Messi in a FIGHT"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Anthony Joshua backs Cristiano Ronaldo to beat Lionel Messi in a FIGHT, as he reveals he&#8217;d love to see rivals square-up in Misfits boxing bout<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Anthony Joshua backs Cristiano Ronaldo to beat Lionel Messi in a fight\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>The former boxing champion was asked to name two non-boxers to compete\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Listen to the latest episode of Mail Sport&#8217;s podcast &#8216;It&#8217;s All Kicking Off&#8217;<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Anthony Joshua would love to see Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo go head-to-head in a Misfits boxing match &#8211; and while declaring it to be a close contest, he&#8217;s backed the Portuguese star to emerge victorious.<\/p>\n<p>The British heavyweight boxer, 33, is currently enjoying some time off after beating\u00a0Robert Helenius via a seventh-round KO at the 02 Arena in London last month.<\/p>\n<p>And the big football fan has said that he would love to see two icons of the team sport go head-to-head to continue their personal rivalry in the fighting arena.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In an interview posted on YouTube, Joshua was asked to name two non-boxers he&#8217;d love to see fight based on personalities alone, and responded with &#8216;Ronaldo versus Messi&#8217;, taking one of modern football&#8217;s fiercest rivalries into a new battleground.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>When asked who wins, Joshua said &#8216;Ronaldo&#8217;, before adding: &#8216;I love Messi and Ronaldo. Messi&#8217;s got that vision though. I can imagine him bobbing and weaving, angles, but yeah, it&#8217;d be tough. They&#8217;re both as good as each other.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/08\/13\/74685655-12496039-Joshua_is_currently_enjoying_some_time_off_ahead_of_a_potential_-a-108_1694175918737.jpg\" height=\"425\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Anthony Joshua has backed Cristiano Ronaldo to win a hypothetical fight with Lionel Messi\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/08\/13\/75213625-12496039-image-m-112_1694176011425.jpg\" height=\"330\" width=\"306\"><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/08\/13\/75213641-12496039-image-a-113_1694176035357.jpg\" height=\"330\" width=\"306\"><\/p>\n<p>Ronaldo and Messi have a long-standing rivalry in football which could cross to a new arena<\/p>\n<p>Joshua refused to name a non-boxer that he would like to meet in the ring in a cross-over fight, saying &#8216;I got no beef with no one&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>When faced with the idea of facing the Portuguese icon was put to him, Joshua said: &#8216;Nah, I respect Ronaldo.&#8217;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The suggestion of a hypothetical fight between two other football rivals was floated as well &#8211;\u00a0Romelu Lukaku versus Zlatan Ibrahimovic.<\/p>\n<p>In response to that, Joshua said: &#8216;Yeah, they don&#8217;t like each other anyway, do they?
