The abandoned non-league clash which Buxton were leading away at Scunthorpe in the 96th minute will be replayed in full.<\/p>\n
There was major confusion at Glanford Park on Saturday (September 9) when the referee called off the National League North fixture deep into second half stoppage-time.<\/p>\n
A torrential downpour had left the pitch waterlogged and the surface was deemed unplayable for the final four minutes of the match. Both teams thought the ref had blown the full-time whistle until he quickly disappeared down the tunnel and it became apparent that wasn't the case.<\/p>\n
Despite being down to 10 men, Buxton were 2-1 up on their travels – but they'll now have to start from scratch in a rearranged fixture. A statement from the league read: "It has been determined that the fixture will be rescheduled in full.<\/p>\n

I'd be embarrassed if I was a Scunthorpe fan. Disgusting," commented a third, while a fourth argued: "Refuse to play lads. That's corrupt."<\/p>\n Even rivals supporters sympathised, with one replying: "I'm not a fan of either club but that is absolutely ridiculous." Another echoed: "That is a shocking decision!!! And made worse by the fact that a Buxton player was sent off and yet that still stands!! Joke!"<\/p>\n To make matters worse for Buxton, the 10 minutes of stoppage time was in part as a result of objects allegedly being thrown at their goalkeeper, according to boss Craig Elliott.<\/p>\n Scunthorpe manager Jimmy Dean claimed "all hell broke loose in the tunnel" after the referee's controversial call. The Iron have fallen down the football pyramid in recent years due to a whole host of backroom issues, with HMRC serving them with a winding-up petition in March.<\/p>\n
