Manchester United forward Anthony Martial left training after just four minutes on Thursday morning.

The Frenchman was pictured arriving at the club’s Carrington base in his Mercedes G Wagon at 8.55am but then snapped driving back out shortly afterwards at 8.59am.

Erik ten Hag is preparing his players for Saturday’s return to Premier League action against Brighton at Old Trafford.

Martial, 27, started United’s last two matches – the 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest and the 3-1 defeat to Arsenal prior to the international break.

In the Arsenal game, Martial was substituted off for new £72million signing Rasmus Hojlund, who is expected to take his place at centre forward when fully fit.

Manchester United have been contacted for comment.

Ten Hag’s side need to get back to winning ways following their second defeat in four games at the Emirates Stadium.

Even their victories over Wolves and Forest have been highly unconvincing as Ten Hag tries to keep the positive momentum from last season going.

Martial was one player United were willing to listen to offers for over the summer but he remains at the club in the final year of his contract.

He is expected to play second fiddle to expensive new arrival Hojlund but given the volume of matches ahead, Martial should still see plenty of opportunities. Martial scored nine goals in 29 outings last season.

It comes amid mounting off-field issues for Ten Hag which has left his attacking options depleted.
