The defender has repaid Moyes\u2019 faith with his performances on the pitch and was rewarded with the captain\u2019s armband for the first four games of this season.<\/p>\n<p>After impressing in the leadership role, Zouma will now continue to lead the team for the foreseeable future.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/15\/14\/75472849-12522863-image-a-15_1694783303329.jpg\" height=\"459\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Kurt Zouma has been appointed as the permanent West Ham captain by David Moyes\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/15\/14\/75473395-12522863-image-a-18_1694784140681.jpg\" height=\"357\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Moyes confirmed that Zouma will be continuing having captained them in the interim<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/15\/14\/64207687-12522863-Zouma_accepts_it_was_very_tough_for_people_to_see_his_actions_wi-a-23_1694784827359.jpg\" height=\"545\" width=\"306\"><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/15\/14\/64207595-12522863-Footage_emerged_from_Snapchat_of_Zouma_kicking_a_cat_at_home-a-24_1694784827453.jpg\" height=\"545\" width=\"306\"><\/p>\n<p>West Ham centre back Kurt Zouma (left) has since reflected on a &#8216;difficult&#8217; year away from the pitch last year after the backlash against him following the sickening video<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Kurt will continue as captain, yes,\u2019 Moyes said. \u2018He\u2019s done a good job.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018We\u2019ve won three and drawn one in the opening four games so yes, he\u2019ll remain as captain.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>West Ham condemned Zouma\u2019s actions at the time and fined him two weeks\u2019 wages worth \u00a3250,000.<\/p>\n<p>The club pledged the fine would be handed to a number of animal charities, while Zouma apologised for his actions.<\/p>\n<p>Zouma was also prosecuted by the RSPCA and pleaded guilty to two counts under the Animal Welfare Act when he appeared at Thames Magistrates&#8217; Court in east London last May.
