Former Sky Sports reporter Jaydee Dyer will take up a new role at rival TNT Sports – three months after leaving his old broadcaster in a wave of cuts.

The presenter was one of six football reporters on the 13-strong team to leave the organisation in June, along with Guy Harvord, Dickie Davis, Bianca Westwood, and Lynsey Hooper.

Big names were also not immune to the shake-ups, with long-term broadcaster Geoff Shreeves departing Sky after over 30 years.

Shreeves was asked to accept a pay-cut and rejected the offer, later telling Mail Sport: ‘I will be brutally honest – I will only be able to tell you in 18 months if it was the right thing to do’.

But it was with delight that Dyer took to social media to announce his new position, sharing a video with his followers.

Jaydee Dyer was a popular presence on Sky Sports’ football and NBA coverage before his departure in June

The presenter took to social media to announce his new role at TNT Sports on Friday afternoon

Speaking to camera from a holiday location, intercut with snippets from interviews with different sporting luminaries including Thierry Henry and Steven Gerrard, Dyer said: ‘It’s so crazy, they call me in this game the young OG.

‘I appreciate it man, I’m ten years deep in this game and I think about my journey – UK, the US. I think about where I’ve been, everything I’ve done.

‘And then I think about the most recent section, the last five years at Sky.

‘NBA Finals on location, first ever broadcast interview for Sky. At 26 I had my own show. Football interviews that will last forever. Boxing pay-per-views that will always sit in the memories of my heart.

‘I love it. I loved it all. I just wanted to be my organic self and I look at the channel and think to myself, “we kind of changed the way people perceive broadcasting there”.

‘It’s been a great journey but every journey needs a transition.’

As well as featuring for Soccer Saturday, Dyer also previously worked on the channel’s NBA coverage.

In a recreation of LeBron James’ famous ‘Decision’ which saw him announce his move to the Miami Heat in 2010, Dyer added: ‘I guess it’s time to turn around and tell you where I’ll be taking my talents.

‘And in this fall, I mean this decision was very tough, but in this fall I’ll be taking my talents to TNT Sports and joining up with the crew.’

TNT Sports’ new look will see talents including Jules Breach (left) fronting football coverage

The reporter shared that he couldn’t wait to get started at the broadcaster.

TNT has snapped up a wealth of talent since their launch in July, with Jules Breach, Lynsey Hipgrave, and Reshmin Chowdhury hosting their new-look coverage along with Laura Woods, who will front Champions League coverage for the broadcaster.

Woods moved on from hosting duties on talkSPORT’s flagship breakfast show to take up the position, and upon signing with the channel, shared her excitement about the new role with TNT pundit Rio Ferdinand.

‘(I’m) very excited,’ Woods told the former Man United man in an interview for the channel. ‘To start a new project with a new team, having a clean slate is really great place to start. I’m excited about it, but I feel a bit nervous about it too.’
