The 2023/24 Premier League season is under way and you can follow every game and every goal right here with The Independent.

This year sees Manchester City try to defend their crown and claim a historic fourth title in succession. Pep Guardiola’s all-conquering City, who also won the Champions League and FA Cup last season, will have to see off Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool and the rest to claim an unprecedented sixth league title in seven years.

Meanwhile Luton Town are making their first appearance in the Premier League, having risen from non-league in an incredible decade of progress. They followed Championship winners Burnley and second-placed Sheffield United in earning promotion to the top flight.

Follow the latest action from the Premier League below.

Subs: Caoimhin Kelleher, Wataru Endo, Ibrahima Konate, Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez, Harvey Elliott, Kostas Tsimikas, Ryan Gravenberch, Stefan Bajcetic.

LIVERPOOL (4-3-3): Alisson; Joe Gomez, Jarell Quansah, Joel Matip, Andy Robertson; Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister, Curtis Jones; Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo, Diogo Jota.

Subs: Dan Bentley, Matt Doherty, Boubacar Traore, Fabio Silva, Hugo Bueno, Sasa Kalajdzic, Tommy Doyle, Pablo Sarabia, Toti Gomes.

WOLVES (4-3-3): Jose Sa; Nelson Semedo, Craig Dawson, Max Kilman, Rayan Ait-Nouri; Jeanricner Bellegarde, Mario Lemina, Joao Gomes; Pedro Neto, Matheus Cunha, Hwang Hee-chan.

Liverpool meanwhile make an eye-catching inclusion of their own, with Jarell Quansah handed his first start in the Premier League. The 20-year-old academy defender gets the nod with Virgil van Dijk out through suspension and Trent Alexander-Arnold out through injury.

There are two changes to the starting line-up for Wolves from the side who lost to Crystal Palace before the international break. Hwang Hee-chan is recalled to the XI, while there is a debut in midfield for deadline day signing Jeanricner Bellegarde.

Wolves will certainly hope they can call on the spirit of last season’s home performance against Liverpool, when they produced an impressive 3-0 victory against their visitors. A similar result today would raise some eyebrows given they have struggled over the first few weeks.

Jurgen Klopp’s side will not underestimate their hosts either, despite a ropey start under Gary O’Neil. The former Bournemouth boss, dismissed after keeping the Cherries afloat this time, has just one win from his first four league games in charge.

The Reds have made an unbeaten start to the new league term despite the departure of several key faces during the transfer window, but with Mohamed Salah kept from the clutches of the Saudi Pro League, they have ensured their firepower remains.

Hello and welcome to live coverage of the 2023-24 Premier League season, as Liverpool look to seize top spot – on a temporary basis at least – against Wolves at Molineux!
