Inter Milan thrashed their crosstown rivals AC Milan 5-1 in their biggest home win at the San Siro since 1967.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Simone Inzaghi’s side looked a team at the height of their powers, getting off the mark within the first five minutes with a goal from Henrikh Mkhitaryan.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The former Arsenal man added to his tally in the second half as Inter registered contributions from Davide Frattesi, Hakan Calhanoglou, and new recruit Marcus Thuram.\u00a0<\/p>\n
A lone goal from wonderboy Rafael Leao – the first Inter have conceded this season – in the second half had the makings of a fightback but the San Siro hosts on the afternoon quickly won back control.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Thuram’s goal was one to set the ultras’ hearts aflutter, and netted in his first derby: the fine first-half strike announced the Frenchman to the San Siro in some style as he stretched the top corner’s netting of Mike Maignan’s goal.<\/p>\n

The result continues Inter’s perfect streak since the start of the season, putting Inzaghi’s team two points clear at the top of the table and ensuring they will stay there past the end of this matchweek.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Speaking to DAZN, the manager brushed off the title of ‘king of derbies’, instead downplaying the achievement.\u00a0<\/p>\n
‘I’m happy for our people, our club, we knew it was very important,’ Inzaghi shared after the final whistle. ‘Four derby wins brought us a trophy and to play in the Champions League final (last season) and this victory gives up a temporary lead in the table – but we’re only in the fourth matchday.’<\/p>\n
Of Thuram, he said: ‘I had already spoken with (Didier) Deschamps, who spoke highly of him. He’s a boy with great qualities, a great person who was immediately loved.<\/p>\n
‘He was a great purchase – well done to (Inter) who followed him for 12 months.’\u00a0<\/p>\n
