There's no doubt about it, professional boxing is one of, if not arguably, the most lucrative sport on the planet.

For years, talented fighters have been able to cash in both in and out of the ring, with boxers earning millions upon millions for punching the living daylights out of their opponents, or by lucrative endorsement deals. Of course, that does not mean every single fighter is able to make a killing, but if you're one of the best, you can be sure you're getting a bumper payday.

The notable names that stand out when it comes to the richest boxers in the world are the likes of Tyson Fury, the Klitschko brothers, Canelo Alvarez, Manny Pacquiao, George Foreman and of course, Floyd Mayweather Jr. In fact, the latter three are nearly worth a staggering $1bn between them.

Per Wealthy Gorilla's '50 Richest Boxers in the World' list, Filipino boxer Pacquiao has a massive net worth of $200m, while Foreman is second on the list with a net worth of $300m. Mayweather tops the list with a net worth of $450m. Over the course of his career, he has earned over $1bn, a feat which can only be rivalled by the likes of Tiger Woods, Michael Schumacher and Michael Jordan, putting the 46-year-old in esteemed company.

Higher up the list however, there are plenty of famous names who are worth significantly less, but are still worth a fortune due to their time in the ring. British boxers Dillian Whyte ($7m), Joe Calzaghe ($10m), David Haye ($20m) and Carl Froch ($20m) all sit outside the top 20 richest boxers but are worth enough to crack the top 50.

And while they sit outside the top 20, the likes of Naseem Hamed ($33m), Ricky Hatton ($40m), Amir Khan ($40m) and Tyson Fury ($65m) are worth enough to crack into the top 20 – but not the top 10. That part of the top 50 is made up of the Klitschko brothers, Vitali ($80m) and Wladimir ($90m), Anthony Joshua ($80m), Sugar Ray Leonard ($120m), Lennox Lewis ($140m), Canelo Alvarez ($180m) and Oscar De La Hoya ($200m).
