Derby County\u00a0goalkeeper Josh Vickers has revealed that his wife has died from cancer, just three months after they married.<\/p>\n
The 27-year-old, who started his career with Arsenal, has documented his wife Laura’s lengthy battle on Instagram including numerous rounds of chemotherapy.<\/p>\n
In an emotional post today, he shared the heartbreaking news that she had passed away alongside a picture from their wedding day.<\/p>\n
‘I have written and unwritten this so many times and still can’t find the right words to say and don’t know if I ever will.<\/p>\n
‘On Tuesday evening my wife lost her long battle against cancer\u2026.<\/p>\n

The goalkeeper’s absence from last night’s match was put down to ‘personal reasons’<\/p>\n

Vickers’ teammates held up his shirt in a show of support as he was absent from yesterday’s match<\/p>\n
‘Laura is the strongest, bravest and most loving person I have ever met. Even though everything she was going through, she continued to smile, never letting anything get in the way of having a good time and making a lifetime of memories.<\/p>\n
‘We have cried, laughed and danced our way through some tough times.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The goalkeeper signed for Rams just 13 weeks ago, announcing the news via Instagram saying he was ‘delighted’ with his move.\u00a0<\/p>\n
He posted about his wedding to Laura, on June 1,\u00a0 just three weeks before.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Vickers also shared updates with his followers throughout Laura’s tough battle with cancer.<\/p>\n
In 2019, he paid tribute to her after she completed a grueling eight chemotherapy sessions.<\/p>\n
