Sir Jim Ratcliffe is ready to alter his Manchester United offer as he tries to break the deadlock in talks with the Glazer family.

The British billionaire has emerged as one of the frontrunners to take over the Red Devils, who were put on the market by the Glazers last year. However, their talks have hit a roadblock in recent months.

Ratcliffe – who is the owner of the INEOS group – is prepared to change his bid to try and forge a path forwards. Britain's richest man tabled a bid to purchase 69% of United – but he is prepared to modify the bid to put to rest any fears about who would own the remaining 39% of the club.

Ratcliffe is set to rival a bid from Qatar, fronted by Sheikh Jassim. And both parties are reported to have offered the Glazer family £5billion.

However, the bids have different structures, with the Qatari bid aiming to take over the entire club. But, according to various reports, neither bid have matched the Glazers' asking price of £6billion.
