Sofyan Amrabat has revealed his stance on playing as a left-back after making his first start for Manchester United in the win over Crystal Palace.<\/p>\n

Amrabat arrived at Old Trafford this summer on loan from Fiorentina after a move to Liverpool collapsed.<\/p>\n
The 27-year-old midfielder made his debut after coming off the bench in the 1-0 win over Burnley on Saturday and Erik ten Hag decided to hand the Morocco star his full debut on Tuesday as United beat Crystal Palace 3-0 in the Carabao Cup.<\/p>\n
Eyebrows were raised when Amrabat appeared to be deployed as a left-back, but it soon became clear that he was given a free role and often drifted into midfield.<\/p>\n
\u2018I told the manager, I will play where you need me, where the team needs me, even as a goalkeeper!\u2019 Amrabat told Sky Sports about playing at left-back.<\/p>\n
\u2018I will play anywhere where I can help the team. Today it was left-back but I had a free role and I played a lot in the midfield. It was nice, it was good.<\/p>\n
\u2018I like to have the ball always. Of course I\u2019m not a [natural] left-back but I try to give the team extra options. Today it was okay.<\/p>\n
\u2018Of course I am a midfielder and I prefer to play in midfield. But I will play wherever I am needed.\u2019<\/p>\n
Speaking more generally about his first start for United, Amrabat added: \u2018I think it was a perfect night and we played very well. <\/p>\n
\u2018Since I was a child I worked for this. It\u2019s amazing to play here, the stadium is full on a Tuesday, it is fantastic.\u2019<\/p>\n
