Pep Guardiola insists he’s not worried that Man City’s quadruple hopes came to an end with their Carabao Cup defeat to Newcastle.<\/p>\n
Guardiola’s City side crashed out at the third-round stage\u00a0with a 1-0 defeat at St James’ Park following a 53rd minute Aleksander Isak strike.<\/p>\n
Questions of a quadruple inevitably followed their historic Treble-winning success last season.<\/p>\n
But City at best will be hoping to again win the Treble consisting of the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup.<\/p>\n
Asked if he was disappointed his side could no longer win the quadruple, Guardiola said: ‘You think the target was to win the quadruple? Honestly, it’s not.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Pep Guardiola insists he’s not worried about missing out on the Treble despite his frustrations during Man City’s Carabao Cup exit to Newcastle on Wednesday night<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Guardiola received a yellow card for remonstrating with the fourth official – which he said he deserved<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Guardiola insisted his side didn’t target to win the quadruple despite the disappointing loss\u00a0<\/p>\n Your browser does not support iframes.<\/p>\n ‘We competed really well and we are more than satisfied to win the treble. Our expectations are high, but not high enough to not be satisfied with that.’<\/p>\n Following Newcastle’s goal, tempers began to flare, with Guardiola receiving a yellow card for remonstrating with fourth official Chris Kavanagh.\u00a0<\/p>\n After the final whistle, Guardiola again confronted Kavanagh to express his frustration, which was revealed to be over a lack of bookings given to Newcastle.\u00a0<\/p>\n In response to his yellow card, Guardiola said: ‘I don’t know how many fouls they did, how many fouls we had and the number of yellow cards.<\/p>\n ‘But it is what it is, sometimes the emotions are there. Respect for the referees and their job. A well-deserved yellow card.’<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Guardiola said he is ‘satisified’ with the Treble that his side were able to deliver last season<\/p>\n Guardiola also opted not to bring on Erling Haaland as time ran down at St James’ Park.<\/p>\n Explaining the decision when asked if he considered bringing him on, he said: ‘No. I thought Kyle (Walker had played) a lot of minutes, Erling a lot of minutes.
