Sean Longstaff revealed that he asked Kylian Mbappe for his shirt following Newcastle’s 4-1 victory against Paris Saint-Germain, but the France World Cup winner ultimately gave it to Kieran Trippier’s son.<\/p>\n
Longstaff was seen talking and joking with the PSG superstar after the match and he admitted after the match that he intended on giving the winger’s jersey to his little brother.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Newcastle star, who scored to put Eddie Howe’s side 3-0 up during their epic Champions League clash at St James’ Park said to TNT Sports: I think I was blocking him [Mbappe] from the goal-kick.\u00a0<\/p>\n
‘So I am going to try and get it [his shirt] for my little brother. Hopefully I will still get it.’<\/p>\n
But after the match, Trippier, who came toe-to-toe against Mbappe on the left wing, walked behind the TNT pundits with his son who was wearing a PSG shirt that apparently belonged to the France international.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He was seen chatting and smiling with the French superstar after their resounding victory<\/p>\n

But after the game it was seen that Mbappe (pictured) had given his shirt to Kieran Trippier’s son\u00a0<\/p>\n

Rio Ferdinand turned to him and said: ‘You’ve walked away with Mbappe’s… Is that Mbappe’s shirt?’<\/p>\n
The pundits took a closer look at the name on the back before confirming that Trippier’s son had the prized jersey.\u00a0<\/p>\n
It was a difficult night for the Frenchman who was kept at bay for large parts of the match by the Magpies.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The pundits lauded Jamaal Lascelles, in particular, for his epic performance keeping the 2018 World Cup winner contained with some excellent defensive work during the game.\u00a0<\/p>\n
For Newcastle, it was a night to savour, not only as they welcomed Champions League football back to St James’ Park for the first time in 20 years, but because of their brilliance against the French outfit, firing four goals past the Ligue 1 champions to claim a resounding victory.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Speaking on his side’s excellent performance after the match, Longstaff, a boyhood Magpies fan and a graduate from the club’s academy said to TNT: ‘It’s some night I think we knew as a group that it was going to be some atmosphere.<\/p>\n
‘But I think with me and Dan Burn both scoring on a night like tonight is pretty surreal.’<\/p>\n
Miguel Almiron opened the scoring after 17 minutes to put the Parisians on the back foot infront of the partisan home crowd, who were in full voice throughout the match.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Burn got the second just before half-time, with a VAR review confirming that his towering header stood, lifting the roof off the stadium.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Shortly after half-time, Longstaff bolted down the right wing before striking their third under PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma to score the third.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Lucas Hernandez pull one back for Luis Enrique, but at that stage of the match the Magpies were in full control, with Fabian Schar sealing the win in the 91st minute.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Speaking on the club’s success in recent years, Longstaff spoke of his pride at being from the city and gave an insight into the atmosphere around the club of late.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Champions League action returned to St James’ Park for the first time in 20 years with the Magpies completing a sensational victory against the Ligue 1 champions\u00a0<\/p>\n
He said to TNT: ‘There were a few who thought three years ago that we were probably out the door and it was not a great place to be but since the takeover it\u2019s been a great place to be. It’s been an unbelievable night and I\u2019m so proud to be from Newcastle.’<\/p>\n
‘The semi final here last year was close but this is a different level this is the elite of the elite,’ he added on playing in the Champions League.<\/p>\n
‘Obviously they\u2019ve got some of the best players in the world and to be able to go against them was unbelievable.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
‘We just want to show how good we are and I think we\u2019ve done that tonight. There\u2019s still some stuff to improve on. But tonight we\u2019re going to celebrate the win.’<\/p>\n
