{"id":293698,"date":"2023-10-05T10:24:46","date_gmt":"2023-10-05T10:24:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/allmysportsnews.com\/?p=293698"},"modified":"2023-10-05T10:24:46","modified_gmt":"2023-10-05T10:24:46","slug":"conor-mcgregor-drops-hint-at-ufc-comeback","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/allmysportsnews.com\/mma\/conor-mcgregor-drops-hint-at-ufc-comeback\/","title":{"rendered":"Conor McGregor drops hint at UFC comeback"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Conor McGregor drops hint at UFC return after suggesting that he is FINALLY back in the USADA testing pool<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Conor McGregor has been out of action since breaking his leg back in July 2021<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>The Irishman has appeared to suggest that he is back in the USADA testing pool<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>If true, then he could return in time for the landmark UFC 300 event in April\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Conor McGregor appears to have taken a major step back towards a UFC return by suggesting that he is back in the USADA testing pool.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Irishman has been out of the Octagon since July 2021, when he suffered a broken leg against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>McGregor has been back sparring and training for several months, with a return bout against Michael Chandler proposed, after coaching a series of The Ultimate Fighter against each other.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>However, McGregor had been out of the USADA pool since the third quarter of 2021 and must complete six months of random drug testing with UFC&#8217;s official anti-doping partner before being cleared to fight &#8211; ruling out a fight this year.<\/p>\n<p>The former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion though has appeared to suggest that he has finally back in the pool.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/05\/10\/76196931-0-image-m-13_1696496950720.jpg\" height=\"528\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Conor McGregor has thrown a hint that at a potential UFC comeback on social media<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/05\/10\/76197545-12597075-image-a-33_1696498055035.jpg\" height=\"141\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>In a post on Instagram, he wrote: &#8216;<span>Find my targets. Hit them. F*** the consequences. You&#8217;re going down.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&#8216;This is fighting. Sparring day with slick @grozdevnikolay.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Always a banger of a spar with the slick fella. Submitted my stuff to (Jeff) Novitzky. Ball rolling.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;See you soon you little light work b****.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Novitzky is the senior vice president of Athlete Health and Performance for the UFC &#8211; who helps with USADA testing.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The USADA has in the past rejected previous comments from McGregor which had also appeared to suggest he was back in the pool.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>If McGregor has re-enrolled, then he could be eligible to fight in April 2024 &#8211; when UFC 300 will take place.<\/p>\n<p>Chandler told the MMA Hour, as per MMAfighting.com, that he is confident a bout with McGregor will take place.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/05\/10\/76196955-0-image-a-14_1696496984936.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>The Irishman has not competed inside the octagon since breaking his leg at UFC 264 in 2021<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/05\/10\/76196935-0-image-a-15_1696497011305.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>If he has re-enrolled onto the testing pool, he could potentially return in time for UFC 300<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/05\/10\/76196967-0-image-a-16_1696497054163.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Michael Chandler (right) is still confident that he will fight McGregor, saying it would &#8216;make a lot of sense with a &#8216;historic card coming up&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>He said: &#8216;The status is, unequivocally, the fight is still happening. The fight is not booked for a date, the fight is not booked for a venue, but the fight is booked.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;There&#8217;s no way Conor comes back and doesn&#8217;t fight me. If Conor doesn&#8217;t fight me, he&#8217;s probably just not coming back, and that&#8217;s out of my control. He&#8217;s coming back, he&#8217;s fighting me.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;At this point, by deductive reasoning, by process of elimination, there&#8217;s a main event in December, there&#8217;s a main event in November, we&#8217;re not going to not be a main event, so that pushes it into 2024.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I&#8217;m ready to fight in January, February, March, April, May, whatever. We&#8217;ll see. Obviously, it makes a lot of sense that there&#8217;s a very historic card coming up with the UFC. I haven&#8217;t been told that&#8217;s when it&#8217;s going to be, but I wouldn&#8217;t be surprised if that&#8217;s when it is.
