One of the most distinctive voices in the sport of boxing has been forced to apologise to Dillon Danis after he left the MMA fighter out of a social media post plugging Saturday’s huge double headline bill at Manchester’s AO Arena.

Legendary ring announcer Michael Buffer will once again be the centre of attention when he introduces the bill at MF & DAZN: X Series 10 on Saturday, October 14.

The crossover boxing event is topped by two fights featuring some of the biggest names on social media. Misfits Boxing boss KSI will take on former Love Island star Tommy Fury, while wrestler-turned-YouTuber Logan Paul is pitted against MMA fighter Dillon Danis.

The show will be broadcast by streaming outfit DAZN, who signed Buffer as their exclusive ring announcer in 2018.

The 78-year-old, who is known by fight fans the world over for his “let’s get ready to rumble” catchphrase, took to social media to plug the event this week but made one notable omission in his post.

Alongside a digital poster of the event, Buffer wrote on X: “One week to go! I’ll be in Manchester for the official weigh-in and of course on FIGHT NIGHT! CAN’T WAIT!

“LLLLLLET’S GO! “Let’s Get Ready To Rumble!”® @DAZNBoxing @KSI @tommytntfury @LoganPaul”

Buffer tagged KSI, Tommy Fury and Logan Paul into the post, but not Danis and it didn’t go unnoticed by the American-Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt.

Re-tweeting the post with a quote, Danis wrote: “What a hater tagged everyone but me,” alongside a crying with laughter emoji.

According to CBC Radio, he has since made a fortune in excess of £326m ($400m) off the catchphrase alone.

Buffer has been a ring announcer since 1983. Previously, he enlisted in the US Army during the Vietnam War at the age of 20 and served until he was 23. He was then a car salesman before starting a career in modelling at the age of 32, going on to become a ring announcer at 38.
