Former Leicester goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel has issued an apology after reportedly swearing at a ball boy during Denmark’s 2-1 win over San Marino on Tuesday night.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The 36-year-old ran to the young boy and screamed at him for not throwing the ball back on the pitch quickly midway through the match.\u00a0<\/p>\n
As reported by\u00a0Danish newspaper Se og H\u00f8r,\u00a0Schmeichel allegedly said: ‘Give me the ball you f***ing p****!’<\/p>\n
The Anderlecht goalkeeper has admitted to going ‘over the line’ and that he ‘failed’ as a role model for children in a statement released on social media.\u00a0<\/p>\n
‘In a heated moment I went over the line and used the wrong choice of words to a ball boy during the game,’\u00a0Schmeichel wrote on Instagram.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The 36-year-old Anderlecht goalkeeper has apologised and admitted to ‘going over the line’<\/p>\n
‘As everyone knows, being a role model for children means everything to me, and I do everything to live up to that. Here I failed, and for that I am sorry and apologise.’\u00a0<\/p>\n
Denmark took the lead on the verge of half-time through Rasmus Hojlund but were left shell shocked when San Marino got level just after the hour mark with a very rare goal.\u00a0<\/p>\n
But Yussuf Poulsen secured the win for Denmark to strengthen their hopes of securing top spot in Group H ahead of top-of-the-table Slovenia.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Some Danish players were left unhappy with San Marino’s tactics. Manchester United striker Hojlund said:\u00a0‘I feel they targeted me, as you can see at the end.<\/p>\n
‘I understand Italian and I could hear them saying that they had the idea to crush me.’<\/p>\n
But\u00a0San Marino’s stars hit back at the former Atalanta star and labelled his claims as a ‘disappointment’ following the Euro 2024 qualifier.<\/p>\n
