Marcus Rashford has dedicated Manchester United’s win over Sheffield United to the late Sir Bobby Charlton who passed away on Saturday aged 86.<\/p>\n
The United striker shared a heartfelt tribute to the late star in a post on his social media on Sunday, noting that Charlton had been present when he signed his first professional contract with the club.<\/p>\n
‘I signed my first professional contract at Man Utd with Sir Bobby.’ Rashford wrote on Instagram.<\/p>\n
‘Thank you for all the support and advice that you provided to me. That win was for you and your family.’\u00a0<\/p>\n
Rashford accompanied his post with an image of the United Trinity statue depicting Charlton and fellow club legends George Best and Denis Law outside Old Trafford, and pictures of the tributes from United’s clash with Sheffield United.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Players wore black armbands and observed a silence before the game to pay tribute to Charlton<\/p>\n

Both teams wore black armbands during the game, with an emotional minute’s silence conducted before kick-off to honour the former United and England star.<\/p>\n
Scott Mctominay continued his hot streak in front of goal to give the visitors the lead at Bramall Lane before Oli McBurnie hit back from the penalty spot.<\/p>\n
Late in the second half Diogo Dalot netted from outside the box to secure three points in an emotional evening for players and spectators alike.<\/p>\n
Speaking following the game Harry Maguire paid tribute to Charlton, noting the influence his visits to the dressing room would have on the team.<\/p>\n
‘Sir Bobby came to the changing room a lot after games and he lit the place up.<\/p>\n
‘Everyone could see the aura he brought to the dressing room and the amount of the respect that the lads, the staff and the club had for him.<\/p>\n
‘He’s an absolute legend of this club and legend of football.<\/p>\n
‘We’re obviously delighted to win the game tonight but it’s more than football. My thoughts go to Bobby and his family.’<\/p>\n
