Joe LaCava came into the European team room on the Sunday night and had a drink and a chat.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/23\/18\/76044323-12662859-McIlroy_and_LaCava_were_involved_in_a_heated_confrontation_follo-a-1_1698080407895.jpg\" height=\"456\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Rory McIlroy said any bad feeling towards Patrick Cantlay&#8217;s caddie Joe LaCava is in the past<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/23\/18\/76017241-12662859-He_was_then_seen_launching_into_a_livid_rant_at_someone_while_le-a-2_1698080511117.jpg\" height=\"345\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>The pair clashed on the course, and in the car park, during the Saturday at the Ryder Cup\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/23\/18\/76902359-12662859-image-a-17_1698080964526.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>McIlroy&#8217;s involvement in the row became a dominant headline from Europe&#8217;s 16.5-11.5 win<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I&#8217;ve had a great relationship with Joe over the years when he caddied for Tiger [Woods] and that wasn&#8217;t going to change.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;For me, the incident happened, I purposely didn&#8217;t want to meet anyone on the Sunday morning because I wanted what had happened to fuel me for that day. My whole focus was let&#8217;s make sure Europe win the Ryder Cup and then we will sort all the other stuff out afterwards.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;And it&#8217;s all fine. We&#8217;re all friends now.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>The row became one of the dominant headlines from<span>\u00a0<\/span>Europe&#8217;s crushing 16.5-11.5 victory<span>\u00a0over the United States at Marco Simone in Rome.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Fans had spent the Saturday round taunting Cantlay by waving their hats in the air after an earlier report claimed he was not wearing a cap as a form of protest against not being paid for competing in the tournament \u2013 something he later denied.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>LaCava waved his hat around in response,\u00a0but this in turn disrupted a McIlroy putt.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The day after the incident, after Europe had sealed the trophy, an emotional McIlroy told BBC 5 Live: &#8216;Walking off the 18th yesterday was probably the angriest I&#8217;ve ever been in my career.
