Union Berlin<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>The forward ignored his manager against Napoli and has had &#8216;private problems&#8217;<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Follow Mail Sport&#8217;s new Champions League WhatsApp channel for all the breaking news\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Chelsea loanee David Datro Fofana fell out with Union Berlin boss Urs Fischer as they slumped to defeat against Napoli on Tuesday night &#8211; but now he has apologised.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The 20-year-old, shipped out from Stamford Bridge to Germany for the season, refused to shake the manager&#8217;s hand when he was substituted in their 1-0 loss.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Fischer poked Fofana but the forward did not even look at him as he trudged to the bench, with Union going on to lose their third straight Champions League game.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It was also their ninth consecutive defeat in all competitions as the starry-eyed club have tumbled down the table, teetering just above the Bundesliga drop zone.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In a public Instagram apology, Fofana wrote: &#8216;Following my behaviour during my exit from the field, I wanted to apologise to the club, the coach, my teammates and the supporters.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/26\/08\/77021267-0-image-a-1_1698305007627.jpg\" height=\"350\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>David Datro Fofana did not acknowledge Urs Fischer when he was substituted against Napoli\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/26\/08\/77021575-0-image-m-18_1698305994930.jpg\" height=\"698\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>He was substituted after 70 minutes shortly after Napoli scored the only goal of the match<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/26\/08\/77021581-0-image-a-15_1698305687093.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>The forward, on loan from Chelsea, has failed to find the back of the net in Germany<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/26\/08\/77021841-0-image-a-19_1698306396966.jpg\" height=\"553\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Fofana apologised for the episode on Instagram, saying it did not represent his attitude\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;This gesture was not intended and in no way does it represent my attitude, all this was generated as a result of frustration because I wanted to continue helping the team to obtain a positive result.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;We will continue to work and come back even stronger in the championship and in this great competition.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Fofana has struggled during his loan spell at Union, scoring no goals in nine appearances.<\/p>\n<p>He was taken off 70 minutes into the game against Napoli at 1-0 down.<\/p>\n<p>The club&#8217;s sporting director has previously explained that the striker is facing &#8216;private problems&#8217; and is lacking in self-confidence.<\/p>\n<p>Chelsea made Fofana their first acquisition of the January transfer window, signing the youngster from Molde for \u00a38million.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He made four appearances for the Blues but was unable to find the form he had at Molde, Erling Haaland&#8217;s old club, where he scored 22 in 39 games in 2022.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>His loan to Union Berlin has given him a taste of
