Manchester United star Alejandro Garnacho has been blasted by former professional footballers and pundits for his\u00a0antics ahead of FC Copenhagen’s missed penalty in the\u00a0<\/span>Red Devils’ 1-0 win in the Champions League on Tuesday.<\/p>\n The Danish side were awarded a spot-kick in the final minute at Old Trafford after a foul by Scott McTominay.<\/p>\n But Jordan Larsson was denied by a superb stop from\u00a0Andre Onana as the goalkeeper dived to his left to preserve United’s slender 1-0 lead.<\/span><\/p>\n After the game, footage\u00a0<\/span>showed that Garnacho had stamped on the spot using both of his feet before the penalty whilst referee Marco Guida was busy dealing with United’s furious players.<\/p>\n Former Arsenal\u00a0midfielder\u00a0Kim Kallstrom\u00a0hit out at Garnacho for ‘childish’ behaviour.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Footage showed Alejandro Garnacho scuffing the spot ahead of Copenhagen’s penalty<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Garnacho’s conduct was slammed by former Arsenal midfielder\u00a0Kim Kallstrom on television<\/p>\n Your browser does not support iframes.<\/p>\n Now, Mail Sport’s Chris Sutton\u00a0and Ian Ladyman have described\u00a0Garnacho’s actions as ‘awful’.<\/p>\n ‘Just imagine if that was the other way round. And Manchester United needed to get back into the game. There would be, I mean, there would be outrage from Manchester United fans, wouldn’t there?’ Sutton said on the latest episode of Mail Sport’s It’s All Coming Up podcast.\u00a0<\/p>\n ‘I thought that was really, really poor from Garnacho. You know, I really did. Digging up the penalty spot is a totally different thing.<\/p>\n ‘I think that that’s a really poor show from Garnacho and Manchester United and he should be called out for it. I hope Eric ten Hag deals with this in his next presser.’<\/p>\n Ladyman added:\u00a0\u00a0‘I must admit, I don’t like it either. Some people say, oh, if you can get away with it, you should do it. There is a word for that kind of behaviour, which we can’t use without using our bleep machine, but it ends in “-housery”\u00a0<\/p>\n ‘I think that referees should get on top of that kind of thing. I still haven’t really got over what happened at the World Cup final the way that Emilio and Martin has put off the French players before the shootout.’\u00a0<\/p>\n Onana’s crucial penalty spot earned United\u00a0a vital 1-0 win, keeping their hopes of qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League alive after consecutive losses in the opening two fixtures.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Chris Sutton and Ian Ladyman described Garnacho’s actions as ‘awful’ on ‘It’s All Coming Up’<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Andre Onana produced a crucial stop from Jordan\u00a0Larsson to earn Man United a vital victory<\/p>\n United are third in Group A with three points, six behind group leaders Bayern Munich but are now just one shy of second placed Galatasaray.<\/p>\n Erik ten Hag’s men travel to Denmark to face Copenhagen on November 8, before a trip to Istanbul three weeks later.
