Psychic Clinton Baptiste didn’t have good news after he hilariously 'contacted' Diego Maradona to ask him if England had a chance of winning the 2026 World Cup.

It will be 70 years since England lifted the World Cup back in 1966 by the time the current crop get their next chance to bring football home. Plenty is expected of Gareth Southgate’s side after previously reaching the semi-finals in 2018 and agonisingly finishing runners-up in Euro 2020.

And in a bid to find out whether the Three Lions' chances of ending their World Cup void could happen in North America in a few years time, an old foe of England’s, Maradona, was called upon from beyond the grave to share his expertise and his tips.

Baptiste, who gave such stellar hypnotic roles in comedy shows Phoenix Nights and Brassic, appeared on talkSPORT alongside Ally McCoist and Andy Townsend before he used his psychic powers to ask the former Argentina World Cup winner a couple of questions about England’s chance.

Speaking to McCoist, Baptiste eerily revealed his chat with Maradona to cap off spooky season, he said: “Sorry I’ve got Maradona here, hold on just a second, Diego?” Before he revealed Maradona dubbed Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi: “What a player.”

Can England prove Maradona wrong and win the 2026 World Cup? Let us know in the comments section.

Since Baptiste had gotten hold of Maradona, he decided to ask him whether he should back England to finally end their trophy drought, he continued: “Diego? Are you there? Hold on, this is for everyone at home. Diego, I’m thinking about putting some money on England to win the World Cup, quite a lot of money, what do you think?”

But just as his ‘Hand of God’ goal shot down England’s hopes in 1986, he spookily didn’t give his old rivals much of a chance, seeing Baptiste have to admit he was laughing back at him. “He says, come on Clinton, use your head.” To which he snapped back, “Use your head? Bit rich coming from you, you cheat!”

McCoist and Townsend burst into laughter before Maradona’s spirit disappeared, leaving behind nothing but a message to England fans to be upset by his words and actions again.
