{"id":296103,"date":"2023-11-01T01:24:19","date_gmt":"2023-11-01T01:24:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/allmysportsnews.com\/?p=296103"},"modified":"2023-11-01T01:24:19","modified_gmt":"2023-11-01T01:24:19","slug":"fas-unclear-guidance-over-political-statements-leaves-clubs-irritated","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/allmysportsnews.com\/soccer\/fas-unclear-guidance-over-political-statements-leaves-clubs-irritated\/","title":{"rendered":"FA&apos;s unclear guidance over political statements leaves clubs irritated"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Football clubs are IRRITATED by the FA&#8217;s unclear guidance on how to advise players making political statements&#8230; as governing body drags its heels over investigating Hamza Choudhury&#8217;s Pro-Palestine message<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The FA is dragging its heels over whether to investigate Hamza Choudhury&#8217;s post<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>FA&#8217;s unclear guidance on political messages has caused frustration among clubs<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Listen to the latest episode of Mail Sport&#8217;s football podcast &#8216;It&#8217;s All Kicking Off!&#8217;\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Football Association have irritated clubs by failing to provide clear guidance on how to advise players over making public messages linked to the ongoing Middle East conflict.<\/p>\n<p>English football\u2019s governing body is dragging its heels over deciding whether to investigate a social media post from Leicester midfielder Hamza Choudhury that read \u2018from river to sea\u2019 &#8211; a saying with pro-Palestinian connotations.<\/p>\n<p>The FA were expected to decide on Tuesday whether the former England Under 21 international has a case to answer &#8211; but a final decision is yet to be made.<\/p>\n<p>The delay arrives amid concern from leading clubs over the lack of guidance from English football\u2019s key stakeholders on how they should instruct their staff about the sort of messaging that is permitted from \u2018participants\u2019 in the public domain.<\/p>\n<p>In contrast, anti-discriminatory organisation Kick It Out released a statement in relation to Choudhury\u2019s situation on Tuesday urging players to show \u2018caution\u2019 on social media when commenting on events in the Middle East.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/31\/23\/77247713-12695535-image-a-104_1698796368329.jpg\" height=\"458\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>The FA\u00a0is dragging its heels over whether to investigate a post online from Hamza Choudhury<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/31\/23\/77189273-12695535-image-a-106_1698796434432.jpg\" height=\"284\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Choudhury &#8211; who is of Bangladeshi-Grenadian descent &#8211; appeared to post a pro-Palestinian social media message on Monday<\/p>\n<p>Your browser does not support iframes.<\/p>\n<p>Due to the lack of official guidance, clubs have taken it upon themselves to hold internal presentations to players in an effort to ensure they don\u2019t land themselves in hot water when commenting on the violent scenes between Israel and Palestine.<\/p>\n<p>There is a sense at a number of clubs that stakeholders &#8211; including the FA and Premier League &#8211; are reluctant to send out any official communications out of fear of dictating to players and clubs about their personal messages.<\/p>\n<p>However, the fact the FA are even considering Choudhury may have a case to answer for his controversial social media post &#8211; which he has since said was misinterpreted &#8211; highlights the dangers of political messaging for footballers.<\/p>\n<p>Choudhury said after making the post: \u2018I want to address my earlier post which has unfortunately been misinterpreted. It was not and is not my intention to cause offence to anyone but simply to show my compassion for innocent people that are suffering. I\u2019m sorry for any offence this has caused.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>A spokesman for Leicester added: \u2018We have discussed the matter with Hamza, and shared our concern that views expressed in this manner &#8211;
