Andre Onana will reportedly play for Cameroon at the Africa Cup of Nations early in 2024, despite previously quitting international football.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The tournament will run through January and into February, meaning Manchester United could be left without their first-choice goalkeeper for seven games.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Mail Sport reported on Tuesday that Onana was considering whether to go to the tournament.<\/p>\n
Onana retired from international football in December after the World Cup following a row with head coach Rigobert Song, but returned for the final AFCON qualifier against Burundi in September and played against Senegal last month.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Now, i\u00a0reports that the 27-year-old wants to play in the tournament, although his shaky start at Manchester United made him doubt whether he should go.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He quit international football last December after a sensational row with Rigobert Song but has recently returned\u00a0<\/p>\n

A source close to the player told i: ‘At the moment he plans to play in every game he is called up for.’\u00a0<\/p>\n
Were Cameroon to go all the way to the final, Onana would miss four Premier League games, potentially two FA Cup ties,\u00a0 and maybe a Carabao Cup semi-final.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The tournament runs from January 13 to February 11.\u00a0<\/p>\n
With Onana absent, Erik ten Hag would face a selection dilemma.\u00a0<\/p>\n
United’s back-up options are Altay Bayindir, who they signed from Fenerbache for \u00a34.2million in the summer, and Tom Heaton.<\/p>\n
It marks a strong U-turn from last December, when he was expelled from the Cameroonian World Cup squad after a shouting match with Song over goalkeeper playing styles.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Song reportedly lambasted Onana for playing too riskily with his feet and he was replaced by\u00a0Devis Epassy.<\/p>\n
