John Obi Mikel opened up about the dressing room habits of one particular ex-Chelsea star who always left their underwear on the floor.

The 36-year-old enjoyed 11 years at the Premier League giants from 2006 to 2007 where he won two league titles and a Champions League among a host of other domestic honours. He played 372 times for the club before enjoying stints in China, Turkey and Kuwait.

The former Nigeria international retired from football in 2022 and has since started a new podcast called 'The Obi One Podcast' where he recently had former Chelsea captain John Terry as a guest as the pair reminisced about Michael Ballack and his antics in the dressing room.

The German legend racked up 166 appearances for the West London club between 2006 and 2010 after successful stints at Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich. The ex-Chelsea pair jokingly scolded the midfielder for always leaving his underwear on the floor after getting changed.

"I just remember a funny story about him when he used to come in the dressing room and get changed," Mikel said on the Obi One podcast. "Bally was a special character but when he walked in, he is a tall, huge guy, and he's got a presence about him.

"Like JT, Frank (Lampard), Didier (Drogba) – all of those guys are imposing and Ballack used to walk in jamming and sometimes he would say a lot and sometimes he wouldn't and just f*** off straight to his locker and get changed. But every time, he would forget his underwear. His underwear was always on the floor, just by his locker."

Mikel said the former Germany international would do it "all the time" as he continued: "He would take off his clothes, his trousers and close his locker but his pants were on the floor. He would just leave it there and walk off so every time we came in Michael Ballack's underwear would be on the floor."

Unable to contain his laughter, Terry said looking back they should have dumped the pants in the bin due to the "good standards" that existed in the dressing room at Chelsea.
