Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou could build on his strong African contingent with two more acquisitions over the coming transfer windows. Current Spurs stars Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr have made it onto the African Player of the Year shortlist, and others who made the cut are rumoured to be on the Londoners’ radar.

Bissouma and Sarr form the base of Postecoglou’s exciting midfield, helping Spurs to lead the Premier League 10 games into the former Celtic manager’s tenure. The duo’s breakthrough has been celebrated by supporters after ex-Tottenham boss Antonio Conte restricted their minutes last term.

At 27 years old and 21 years old respectively, Postecoglou should have a dependable pairing to call upon for years to come. Their excellent form at club level, as well as their exploits internationally with Mali and Senegal, have seen them make it onto the 30-man shortlist for African Player of the Year.

And Spurs may cast their eye over a selection of the other 28 stars for inspiration ahead of the January transfer window.
