Listen here to It&#8217;s All Kicking Off!\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Chris Sutton has joked he may have been optimistic to suggest Erik ten Hag has 10 games to save his job following Manchester United&#8217;s Carabao Cup exit to Newcastle on Wednesday.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>After a 3-0 defeat in the Manchester derby, Sutton said on Monday&#8217;s It&#8217;s All Kicking Off podcast that the United boss could be nicknamed &#8216;Erik ten Games&#8217; &#8211; a nod to the mounting pressure he is facing amid some calls for the sack.<\/p>\n<p>With Sunday&#8217;s dismal derby loss following up by an &#8217;embarrassing&#8217; cup loss to Newcastle, Sutton thinks he may have been too conservative with his 10-game prediction.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;That might have been optimistic!&#8217; Sutton said, on Thursday&#8217;s It&#8217;s All Coming Up show.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;The team is in regression and he has to take responsibility. They look like they&#8217;re drowning.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/02\/16\/77325935-12703303-image-m-50_1698944056235.jpg\" height=\"425\" width=\"306\"><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/02\/16\/77328767-12703303-image-a-51_1698944059450.jpg\" height=\"425\" width=\"306\"><\/p>\n<p>Chris Sutton (right) is not totally convinced Erik ten Hag (left) &#8211; at the rate things are deteriorating at Manchester United &#8211; will get 10 games to salvage his job at Old Trafford<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/02\/16\/77313227-12703303-image-a-52_1698944085405.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>United are in disarray following their latest &#8217;embarrassing&#8217; defeat, with Ten Hag &#8216;drowning&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Your browser does not support iframes.<\/p>\n<p>Co-host Ian Ladyman, who was at the game for Mail Sport, likened Ten Hag to a former United boss in the shape of David Moyes.<\/p>\n<p>Reflecting on what he saw from the Dutchman after another galling loss, Ladyman concurred that Ten Hag looked like a man &#8216;drowning&#8217; in the negativity.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;They were utterly abysmal,&#8217; he said. &#8216;They were extraordinarily bad.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I fear for Ten Hag now; the public tide is turning.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>He continued: &#8216;He\u00a0<span>reminded me of <\/span>David Moyes<span>\u00a0last night.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>&#8216;Moyes looked haunted, red eyed, like he wasn&#8217;t sleeping and was out of his depth. Ten Hag looked like that last night, he looked absolutely helpless.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>&#8216;I dont want him to go, but they have regressed this term at a speed that has astonished me. They looked like 11 strangers last night and that is on him.&#8217;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Given Ten Hag has spent \u00a3400million on players, including reunions with former Ajax stars Andre Onana and Antony, the manager must take responsibility for this disastrous start to the campaign.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>&#8216;I saw Mike Keegan&#8217;s article about the kit not fitting [properly]. The shirt is too big for all the players at this moment in time,&#8217; Sutton added.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>&#8216;Erik ten Hag shouldn&#8217;t be getting an easy ride. He&#8217;s under the pump now.&#8217;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/02\/16\/77325999-12703303-image-a-53_1698944098935.jpg\" height=\"422\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Ian Ladyman was at Old Trafford and said that he is increasingly concered for Ten Hag&#8217;s job<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/02\/16\/77329127-12703303-image-a-54_1698944105298.jpg\" height=\"357\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Mail Sport&#8217;s Football Editor said United&#8217;s latest defeat to Newcastle was &#8216;extraordinarily bad&#8217;<\/p>\n<p><span>Back to back 3-0 home defeats has accelerated the pressure on his position, but he vowed on Wednesday to turn this sinking ship around.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u2018We have to put it right. It is my team and they are not performing. I am responsible. As a team we are not good enough and whatever the reasons are, there is no space for excuses,&#8217; Ten Hag said.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018We have to do things better and we have to raise our standards because otherwise you never get the right levels of performance and never get the results.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018But I am a fighter. I know it is not always going up and we have a lot of setbacks this season so far, but also you have to deal with it and that is never an excuse.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Asked if he doubts his ability to turn United\u2019s fortunes around, Ten Hag replied: \u2018I understand it when the results are not there it is also a logical process that they are questioning that. But I am confident I can do it. At all my clubs I have done it and also last year here I did it as well.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>In the space of 90 minutes, Ten Hag went from 8-1 for the sack to second favourite to be axed among Premier League managers as he lost for the eighth time in 15 games this season.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018It is below the standards everyone expect from Manchester United \u2013 it is not good enough by far,\u2019 admitted the United boss.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018At this moment we are in a bad place. I take responsibility for it.
