The former two-time world heavyweight champion sat down with the documentary maker in the iconic north London gym that helped him forge his career in the early days.

Joshua reflected on his career and showed off his freestyle rapping skills after Theroux asked him about his love of music and post-that fight performance in 2019.

Joshua – who had just avenged his shocked defeat to Andy Ruiz – celebrated his victory by getting on the microphone alongside rapper Headie One at a JD Sports party.

Therefore, Theroux knew he was no stranger to getting on the mic and asked AJ what ‘bars’ he had during their interview. Joshua responded by saying he was of a ‘freestyle’ type of guy.

AJ then broke out into rap, spitting the following lyrics: ‘Me and Louis in the kitchen, having coffee and tea, you know that back in the day I’ll be whippin’, big pimpin’, Range Rover dippin’.

Joshua continued: ‘Me and my ninjas never slipping’, trigger finger you know it stays itchin’, I just put the clip in.’

The former two-time world heavyweight champion burst out laughing after his 15-second chorus, but Theroux stepped in to continue the rap

‘Here I am with my man, AJ, I’m asking questions, getting all crazy, in a minute we’ll get in the ring, watch me ’cause I can sting.

‘I can throw a left, I can throw a right, put you down alright all night, you’ll be with your feet layin’ out, no doubt.’

The two-time unified champion took time out of his preparation to make a surprise appearance

AJ’s performance wasn’t the first or last time we will see him with a microphone. He famously performed 21 Seconds alongside So Solid Crew at a packed out nightclub in 2020.

The British heavyweight, who as preparing for a fight with Kubrat Pulev at the time, was filmed at Garage Nation – and impressed the capacity crowd by rapping along to the former UK No 1.

Joshua took to the stage with Lisa Maffia, who is widely known as being the main female member of So Solid Crew, and put on a very different kind of show for the hundreds packed into the venue.

The venue responsible for hosting the event took to Twitter to rave about Joshua’s shock cameo, and described the performance as ‘one of the best moments in Garage Nation history’.
