Nick Kyrgios has landed a shock new job working for The Tennis Channel as a commentator and analyst during the Turin ATP finals next week. The Aussie’s on-court career is at a standstill while he struggles on the sidelines with knee and wrist injuries.\u00a0<\/p>\n
After finishing as the runner-up to Novak Djokovic in the 2022 Wimbledon final\u00a0the 28-year-old missed this year’s Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon and US Open. Kyrgios is expected to return to action at the back end of the year, or sometime in January, but that won’t be the next time he graces tennis fans’ screens as a statement from the Tennis Channel reveals.<\/p>\n
“Nick Kyrgios, whose electric style of play and straight-to-the-point conversational approach have endeared him to millions of fans around the world, is joining Tennis Channel as an analyst during its coverage of the ATP Finals November 12-19,” the press release began.<\/p>\n
“It will be Kyrgios\u2019 first time working with the network, and it will happen during the most exclusive event in men\u2019s tennis, with just the top-eight singles players and doubles teams qualifying for the event based on points earned during the 2023 season.”<\/p>\n
The new role suggests Kyrgios may be considering his next steps after recently revealing that he hasn’t got much time left in the sport due to the worsening condition of his body after\u00a0“all the drinking and partying” he has done during his wild career. “No f***ing chance. No way. Bro, there’s no chance I’m playing until 33,” said Kyrgios last month when asked whether he is hoping to continue his career deep into his thirties like\u00a0Djokovic.<\/p>\n
“Kyrgios playing until 33 is insane. I’m not playing until 33. Nah, I promise you, when I’m gone, you’ll never see me again.\u00a0The schedule is out of control. I’m getting old, I’m getting old. Twenty-eight, yeah – but all the drinking and partying, I’m like 57.<\/p>\n
