Saturday lunchtime’s Wolves vs Tottenham Hotspur clash saw player bodycams feature for the first time in the Premier League.

Spurs’ Brennan Johnson and Wolves defender Max Kilman became the first players to wear the new technology during their warm-up, giving fans the first ever chance to look first hand a Premier League player's preparation.

IFAB laws prohibit the use of the cameras in competitive matches, but TNT Sports struck a deal with the Premier League to use the technology and introduced the bodycams for their debut – offering the viewer a completely new perspective into footballers’ preparations.

Clips of Johnson cam showed the Wales international warming up alongside his Spurs team-mates, completing passing drills, interacting with team-mates and taking instructions from their coaches before heading back into the tunnel.

However, discussions amongst the TNT pundits left split feelings regarding the use of the new technology. Former Manchester City defender Jolean Lescott admitted that while it’s a great addition for fans, it’s not something he would have liked to have worn as a player.

He said: “It just gives a new generation of fans an insight into how warm-ups work. I wouldn't have worn that it would have been a distraction for me,' the ex-player added. Not necessarily in training but I wouldn't have worn them in games. Maybe it's superstition – I got injured twice when I had one on – so I would have said ‘no way.’”

But Joe Cole was more enthusiastic about the trial and suggested some of the Premier League’s great characters could even use the technology to mess with viewers, saying: “I would be tempted to put chewing gum on it just to mess with someone!' Cole said. 'But it's great insight – it's like the eyes of the player warming up. It's fantastic.”
