It happened fast to be fair. I spoke to someone at Chelsea and I was speaking to my dad but I really didn\u2019t know what to do.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I was thinking about it for a couple of days, every minute of the day and then I thought for my career I thought I have to go and get regular game time.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018The competition that&#8217;s there at City, the players that were there, the players that they were going to try to sign. It was gonna be hard.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Asked yesterday to compare City manager Pep Guardiola and Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino, Palmer was diplomatic.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Next question,\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n<p>However he added: \u2018Obviously you know how good of a manager Pep is and he gave me the opportunity and platform to kickstart my career so I&#8217;ll always be grateful to him.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Who knows what would have happened if I had stayed?<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Maybe I would have played more, maybe not. But I think the decision to go to Chelsea so far is paying off.\u2019<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/14\/23\/77806483-0-image-a-31_1700004329227.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>The 21-year-old cut a relaxed figure as he faced the media on Tuesday at St George&#8217;s Park<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/14\/23\/77806489-0-image-a-32_1700004332111.jpg\" height=\"428\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Palmer has been reunited with former City teammate Phil Foden in the England camp<\/p>\n<p>Palmer stayed calm in the heat of all the late frenzy at Stamford Bridge to beat his former team-mate Ederson from the penalty spot.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He has now scored important penalties against Arsenal, Spurs and City for his new club and after his latest one he merely celebrated with a shrug of his shoulders.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I spent 15 years at the club,\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I can\u2019t really go and celebrate how I would usually celebrate if I have scored a 95th minute equaliser because it would have been disrespectful.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018So I just decided to do a shrug. I don\u2019t know why.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018When I saw the ref give it I thought: \u201cIt\u2019s my time\u201d. I spoke to Raz [Raheem Sterling] and he said: \u2018What\u2019s happening?\u2019 and I was like: \u201cI wanna take it\u201d. He was like \u201cFine\u201d and when I put the ball down I just picked a spot and tried to put it there.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I felt I was waiting for a while to take it. So I did think about my old club and stuff but after that not really.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/14\/23\/77806503-0-Palmer-a-40_1700004692795.jpg\" height=\"426\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Palmer spent 15 years at Manchester City but felt it was time to leave in the summer\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/14\/23\/77806671-0-image-a-38_1700004669363.jpg\" height=\"410\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>The Manchester-born forward scored for City in the UEFA Super Cup final in August<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/14\/23\/77806665-0-image-a-39_1700004672166.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Palmer helped City lift the trophy, but was off to Chelsea less than a month later\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u2018It was a crazy game. I did feel a bit nervous before and it felt a bit weird to see everyone from my own club.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I had been there for 15 years. But when the game started it felt normal and it was a good game.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Chelsea manager Pochettino has a good record of bringing through talented young players. Internationals such as Harry Kane, Kieran Trippier, Kyle Walker, Eric Dier and Dele Alli all graduated from Pochettino\u2019s Tottenham squad to play for England.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Yeah a lot of people told me how he is with young players and ever since I went to Chelsea I can see it,\u2019 said Palmer.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I\u2019m enjoying working with him and I\u2019m excited to carry on working with him.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018He has given me the confidence and licence to go where I want on the pitch, where I feel I can use my strengths so I\u2019m grateful for it.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Palmer\u2019s father is a former footballer and played a great role in his early development.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/14\/23\/77806545-12750015-image-m-43_1700004912160.jpg\" height=\"444\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Palmer revealed he asked Raheem Sterling to take the penalty against City on Sunday<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/14\/23\/77806529-12750015-image-a-51_1700005058626.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>The youngster made no mistake from the spot as Chelsea drew 4-4 with City<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/14\/23\/77806549-0-image-a-34_1700004427145.jpg\" height=\"449\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>But he felt his allegiances towards City mean the could not celebrate the late equaliser<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Without my dad I probably wouldn\u2019t be a footballer,\u2019 he added;<\/p>\n<p>\u2018He did numerous hours with me every night, working with me to try and make me a professional footballer. And yeh I am trying to repay him as much as I can.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I got the message about my England call-up right after the match. My phone was going crazy as I have City fans who are my mates and I have family and stuff.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018But then I read it and read it again. It was confirmed. I rang my dad straight away and he was with my mum so I told them.
