Gary Neville believes Arsenal need a new striker to win the Premier League. The Manchester United legend does not think either Gabriel Jesus or Eddie Nketiah can spearhead a title win for the Gunners.

Arsenal fell short in their quest to end a 19-year wait for a top-flight title last season. Despite leading the pack for the majority of the campaign, they didn’t have enough to prevent Manchester City from coming from behind and triumphing for a third year in a row.

Jesus and Nketiah were the two main striker options for Arsenal following the departures of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette in 2022. The duo are again tasked with leading the line in what already appears to be a more competitive Premier League.

Jesus has already won the title on four occasions during his time at City but was never relied upon as the sole striker by Pep Guardiola, often playing second fiddle to the likes of Sergio Aguero. The Brazilian has also had his fair share of injury problems since joining Arsenal, starting just four league games this season.

The former Gunners academy graduate earned his first senior cap for England in October but has been unable to hit a consistent level for his club.

Neville believes Arsenal can finally end their wait for a title this season. But he reckons Jesus and Nketiah could potentially hold them back, claiming they are only second or third-striker options in a title-winning team.

Neville said on the Stick to Football podcast: “I think that Arsenal can win the league this season. Despite starting slow, the football will come, the football that we saw from them last season.
