{"id":297741,"date":"2023-11-15T22:23:58","date_gmt":"2023-11-15T22:23:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/allmysportsnews.com\/?p=297741"},"modified":"2023-11-15T22:23:58","modified_gmt":"2023-11-15T22:23:58","slug":"conor-mcgregor-claims-he-will-make-ufc-comeback-in-april","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/allmysportsnews.com\/mma\/conor-mcgregor-claims-he-will-make-ufc-comeback-in-april\/","title":{"rendered":"Conor McGregor claims he WILL make UFC comeback in April"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Conor McGregor claims he WILL make near three-year UFC comeback in April as he insists he is &#8216;IN&#8217; for UFC 300 &#8211; despite his coach John Kavanagh saying he would not return until next summer<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Conor McGregor hasn&#8217;t fought since breaking his tibia more than two years ago<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>McGregor insisted he would be ready to return to the octagon in April 2024\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Amir Khan takes us behind the scenes before a major fight: Hear it on The Hook\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Conor McGregor has insisted he is on course to return to UFC in April, despite comments from his coach suggesting he wouldn&#8217;t be back in the octagon until July 2024.<\/p>\n<p>MMA star McGregor hasn&#8217;t fought in more than two years after he broke his tibia when taking on Dustin Poirier in July 2021.<\/p>\n<p>There has been significant speculation about when he would return to the sport, with McGregor having agreed to take on American star Michael Chandler in a UFC\u00a0bout, but a date is still to be confirmed.<\/p>\n<p>His comeback had been thrown up in the air again when John Kavanagh, McGregor&#8217;s coach, said earlier this week that despite hopes for a return next Spring, this was unlikely to be the case.<\/p>\n<p>However, McGregor has now added yet more speculation after he claimed on social media\u00a0he would be back for UFC 300, which is scheduled to take place in April 2024.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/15\/21\/77850359-12754621-image-a-36_1700083131629.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Conor McGregor has insisted he is on course to return for UFC 300 in April of next year<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/15\/21\/77126023-12754621-He_hasn_t_fought_in_more_than_two_years_after_breaking_his_tibia-a-37_1700083134673.jpg\" height=\"425\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>He hasn&#8217;t fought in more than two years after breaking his tibia against Dustin Poirier in 2021<\/p>\n<p>Replying to fans on social media about his return, one post from McGregor said: &#8216;I am confident we get the set date (April). There is no one holding no one back. A lot goes on behind the scenes but all involved are working hard to make it happen.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, one supporter directly asked if he would was in or out for UFC 300, and McGregor replied &#8216;In!&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>The card for UFC 300 is expected to feature some huge names in the sport and is set to be a historic event for the promotion.<\/p>\n<p>However, current heavyweight champion Jon Jones will be out of action for the foreseeable future after tearing a pectoral tendon off the bone in training last month, something that requires surgery.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, UFC needs all the star names it can get and it would make sense for McGregor to boost the UFC 300 card.<\/p>\n<p>McGregor&#8217;s comments on social media come after he had claimed last month when in attendance at Tyson Fury&#8217;s crossover bout with Francis Ngannou that he was all set for a return in April.<\/p>\n<p>He had told TNT Sports: &#8216;I&#8217;m in a great place, my body is fully healed\u00a0and hopefully [I\u2019ll be back in] April.<\/p>\n<p>\u2019I would have loved a December fight, I would have dialled in but I want to be honest not just to myself but also my fans.<\/p>\n<p>\u2019April is a lovely run up for me and I\u2019d be happy with that. I\u2019m in a good spot, I\u2019ve been training &#8211; I\u2019ve been leaving also. But I\u2019ve been training and April seems like a good time to come back.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018It\u2019s almost three years now that I\u2019ve been left from my way of living. So I\u2019m eager to get back.\u2019<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/15\/21\/77850479-12754621-image-a-39_1700083347441.jpg\" height=\"308\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/15\/21\/77850481-12754621-image-a-40_1700083350982.jpg\" height=\"210\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>When replying to fans, McGregor said he was confident of returning to the octagon in April<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/15\/22\/77852253-12754621-image-a-2_1700086126073.jpg\" height=\"338\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>McGregor&#8217;s coach, John Kavanagh, claimed the Irishman would not return until next summer<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/i\/pix\/2023\/10\/25\/The%20Hook_Promo_Desktop.636.png\"><\/p>\n<p>However, Kavanagh had poured cold water on this when speaking on The MMA Hour this week.<\/p>\n<p>He had said: &#8216;<span>We were hoping for April. That was the hope. That was what we were told. And now it seems to be the summertime.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I don&#8217;t know [why].
