It&#8217;s All Kicking Off\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Everton received a 10-point deduction that has seen them plummet to 19th in the Premier League, level on points with Burnley.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Sean Dyche&#8217;s side had been sitting 14th in the table having won three of their last five games, including a win over Crystal Palace in their last game before the international break.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The punishment now means they find themselves in the drop zone, but the good news for Evertonians is that they are just two points from safety with Luton on just six points.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Toffees narrowly avoided relegation last season after defeating Bournemouth on the final game\u00a0&#8211; finishing two points above the drop zone.<\/p>\n<p>Mail Sport breaks down why Everton have been deducted 10 points.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/17\/12\/77927543-12761741-image-a-16_1700222516702.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Sean Dyche&#8217;s Everton have received a 10-point deduction that has seen them plummet to 19th\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/17\/12\/77927565-12761741-image-a-17_1700222563741.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>The Toffees have picked up some form recently but the points deduction will derail their season<\/p>\n<p>Your browser does not support iframes.<\/p>\n<p>The Daily Telegraph\u00a0reported that\u00a0the league has asked the independent commission to impose a major sanction against the club and could face a 12 point deduction.<\/p>\n<p>The club&#8217;s case is currently being heard by an independent commission after they posted staggering financial losses of almost \u00a3372million over a three-year period, more than \u00a3250m above what the Premier League&#8217;s guidelines permits.<\/p>\n<p>It is understood the commission commands final say on the punishment, which could be a points deduction up to 12, a fine or a transfer embargo.<\/p>\n<p>Both parties have a right to appeal the verdict.<\/p>\n<p>Mail Sport reported back in October that Burnley and Leeds &#8211; who were all been narrowly relegated in the last two seasons &#8211; have pressured the Premier League to issue a strong punishment.<\/p>\n<p>The League is likely to suggest the most punitive option which is a points deduction of up to 12, but mitigating factors could reduce this.<\/p>\n<p>The more realistic punishment might be a lower points deduction, with some of those possibly suspended.<\/p>\n<p>As alluded to, it has been confirmed that the club have received a 10 points deduction for breaching Premier League profit and sustainability rules.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/17\/12\/77927673-12761741-image-a-18_1700222811587.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>The Toffees defeated Roy Hodgson&#8217;s Crystal Palace in their last Premier League game<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/17\/12\/77927909-12761741-image-a-33_1700223476193.jpg\" height=\"461\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>A points deduction will mean that the side will plummet into the relegation zone\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The club have confirmed that they will appeal the decision.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/17\/13\/77928799-12761741-Premier_League_table_after_points_penalty-a-40_1700226449549.jpg\" height=\"389\" width=\"306\"><\/p>\n<p>Premier League table after points penalty<\/p>\n<p>They strongly deny they did not breach PSR and their financial losses were due to the building of a new stadium at Bramley Moore Dock and whether the interest payments on that development were permissible.<\/p>\n<p>A Premier League statement this afternoon read: \u2018An independent Commission has imposed an immediate deduction of 10 points on Everton FC for a breach of the Premier League\u2019s Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSRs).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u2018The Premier League issued a complaint against the club and referred the case to an independent commission earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018During the proceedings, the club admitted it was in breach of the PSRs for the period ending Season 2021-22 but the extent of the breach remained in dispute.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Following a five-day hearing last month, the commission determined that Everton FC\u2019s PSR calculation for the relevant period resulted in a loss of \u00a3124.5million, as contended by the Premier League, which exceeded the threshold of \u00a3105million permitted under the PSRs.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018The commission concluded that a sporting sanction in the form of a 10-point deduction should be imposed.
