{"id":298270,"date":"2023-11-21T10:24:43","date_gmt":"2023-11-21T10:24:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/allmysportsnews.com\/?p=298270"},"modified":"2023-11-21T10:24:43","modified_gmt":"2023-11-21T10:24:43","slug":"euro-2024-pots-revealed-england-in-pot-one-but-could-face-giant","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/allmysportsnews.com\/soccer\/euro-2024-pots-revealed-england-in-pot-one-but-could-face-giant\/","title":{"rendered":"Euro 2024 pots revealed: England in pot one but could face giant"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Euro 2024 draw pots REVEALED: England will be top seeds for the group-stage draw&#8230; but must beware a giant lurking in &#8216;Pot 3&#8217; as their dream and nightmare options become clear<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>England will avoid some of Europe&#8217;s biggest nations as they go into Pot 1<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>A potential &#8216;group of death&#8217; though could see them face Italy and Netherlands<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Trent and Bellingham can play together but can&#8217;t get in each other\u2019s way &#8211; IAKO<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>England&#8217;s reward for winning their European Championship qualifying group could be a tricky draw involving defending champions Italy and the Netherlands.<\/p>\n<p>Gareth Southgate&#8217;s side have secured a spot in pot one ahead of the draw for next summer&#8217;s tournament in Germany, which will take place in Hamburg on Saturday, December 2.<\/p>\n<p>It means they will avoid group-stage matches against the hosts, Portugal, France, Spain and Belgium.<\/p>\n<p>There are some countries however who have qualified, but are yet to have their pot determined, due to matches taking place this evening.<\/p>\n<p>Defending champions Italy could slip into pot four, if Croatia defeat Armenia at home, or if Zlatko Dalic&#8217;s side take a point and Wales fail to defeat Turkey.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/21\/09\/78053561-12774311-image-a-11_1700558678472.jpg\" height=\"465\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>England could face Italy yet again at Euro 2024 with Gareth Southgate&#8217;s side going into pot one while Italy will find out on Tuesday night if they will slot into the third of fourth pots<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/21\/09\/78053549-12774311-image-a-12_1700558717068.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>England will avoid some of Europe&#8217;s biggest nations in the group but could yet get a tricky draw<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/21\/09\/78053511-12774311-image-a-13_1700558754437.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Italy could be one of the six lowest seeding nations despite being the defending champions<\/p>\n<h3>POTS FOR EURO 2024 DRAW\u00a0<\/h3>\n<p><span>Pot 1<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Germany (hosts), Portugal, France, Spain, Belgium and England<\/p>\n<p><span>Pot 2<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Hungary, Denmark, Albania, Austria\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span>Pot 3<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Scotland, Slovenia, Slovakia, Czech Republic and the Netherlands<\/p>\n<p><span>Pot 4<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Serbia, three play-off winners\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span>To be decided\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Italy &#8211; Pot 4 if Croatia beat Armenia or take a point. Pot 3 if Wales overtake Croatia\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Turkey &#8211; Pot 2 if they win their group, Pot 3 if they finish behind Croatia\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Romania and Switzerland &#8211; Group winner goes into Pot 2, whoever finishes second goes into Pot 4\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span>Teams who could still yet automatically qualify\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Croatia &#8211; Pot 2 if they win the group, Pot 3 if they finish second, or play-offs if they finish third<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Wales &#8211; Pot 4 if they finish second in the group or play-offs if they finish third\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Your browser does not support iframes.<\/p>\n<p>Italy could have secured a spot in pot three if they had defeated Ukraine on Monday, but a goalless draw means their placing is now out of their hands.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>If they do drop into pot four, it means teams the highest seeded teams including England, could face a potential &#8216;Group of Death&#8217; involving the Netherlands &#8211; who are in pot three &#8211; and Italy.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Pot two currently consists of Hungary, Denmark and Albania who won their respective qualifying groups, as well as Austria who finished just one point behind Belgium.<\/p>\n<p>They will be joined by two teams out of Croatia, Turkey, Romania and Switzerland.<\/p>\n<p>In Group D, whoever finishes higher out of Turkey and Croatia will go into pot two, while the other nation will go into pot three.
