The Pittsburgh Steelers’ latest poor showing on offense has led to a dramatic changeup.

The Steelers announced on Tuesday they have fired offensive coordinator Matt Canada.

“I appreciate Matt’s hard work and dedication, and I wish him the best moving forward in his career,” Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said in a statement.

NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero reported on Tuesday that running backs coach Eddie Faulkner is expected to take over as interim OC and QB coach Mike Sullivan will handle play-calling duties.

The fate of Canada has been a popular topic in Pittsburgh the past two seasons as the Steelers have struggled to get going on offense. The Steelers rank 28th in points and yards this season, and most recently scored just 10 points in a loss on Sunday to the rival Cleveland Browns, who started rookie Dorian Thompson-Robinson.

Canada joined the Steelers in 2020 as QBs coach and was promoted to OC beginning with the 2021 season.

The Steelers (6-4) next face the Bengals (5-5) on Sunday in Cincinnati.

Around The NFL will have more on this news shortly.
