<\/p>\nGary Lineker has hilariously recalled the time Paul Gascoigne had a fan clinging on to the back of his Winnebago in a training ground prank.<\/p>\n
Barely a day went by in Gazza's legendary career where he wasn't getting up to mischief, with new tales of his antics emerging all the time even though he's long retired at 56. His former Tottenham and England team-mate Lineker has come out with another cracker.<\/p>\n
The Match of the Day host set the scene on The Rest is Football podcast, which he hosts alongside BBC colleagues Alan Shearer and Micah Richards, with Spurs training on a Friday before travelling to an away game. <\/p>\n

He explained: "We used to have people come along and watch training sometimes. We had one guy that came all the time and he\u2019d do loads of little bits for the players and stuff like that. They use to mess about a bit, take the p*** out of him, but he was kind of an affluent businessman."<\/p>\n
Gascoigne entered the story when he turned up to training driving a Winnebago RV. "He\u2019d brought it for his father and Gazza being Gazza, he wanted to show it off," Lineker explained. "We were waiting to travel and Gazza goes outside the training ground where there\u2019s a bit of roadworks and he picks up this traffic cone.<\/p>\n

"He brings it in, climbs up the steps on the back of his Winnebago and he puts it on the roof. This fan was outside, and Gazza says \u2018here, go out there, someone\u2019s put that f***ing thing on the roof of my Winnebago, go and get it down will you\u2019. So the fella says \u2018yeah, course I will\u2019."<\/p>\n
It was at this point Gazza sneaked into the drivers seat and sped off out of the training ground. Lineker continued: "Gazza puts his engine on, puts his foot down to the floor and starts driving.<\/p>\n

"Out of the car park, onto the main road and the fella\u2019s hanging onto the ladder. Then he accelerates up the hill and he\u2019s almost horizontal hanging onto the back. It\u2019s the most dangerous thing you\u2019ve ever seen, it was ridiculous, but incredibly funny."<\/p>\n
Thankfully the fan escaped the ordeal unharmed, despite being flung around a mini-roundabout, with Spurs manager Terry Venables not wanting any part of the situation.<\/p>\n
"As he drives back into the car park, and somehow the fella had managed to cling on for dear life, Terry Venables is walking out," Lineker added. "And Terry went \u2018bloody hell\u2019 and just turned back. He says \u2018I don\u2019t wanna see this\u2019 and walked back into his office."<\/p>\n
