Speaking in a press conference on Friday Grosso said: ‘I am worried because the lack of a sanction is unacceptable to me… I like incredible atmospheres like those in Marseille, I’m not afraid of that, but the absence of a sanction for what happened I can’t understand.

‘I will remain firm on this, it is very serious.’

During the incident Lyon assistant coach Raffaele Longo was also injured, as were five police officers and buses carrying Lyon fans were attacked.

The match was abandoned after the terrible violence, and the fallout continues as Lille said on Friday that their fans had been banned from travelling to Marseille.

Nine arrests were reportedly made however, it’s unlikely the attack will lead to disciplinary sanctions against nine-time French champions Marseille.

Due to the attack taking place outside the Velodrome stadium, the responsibility for sanctions lies with public authorities and not with the club.

Speaking on his injuries suffered Grosso insisted: ‘It doesn’t seem like it but I have strong shoulders, I don’t show it but I’m still touched.

‘In the morning, when I get up, I go to brush my teeth and I see my face, every day.’

There are still remnents of his black eye on the face of Grosso, but there are yet to be any sanctions

The match was eventually called off, with those on board looking visibly shaken upon arrival
