Man Utd played very poorly in away defeat at Newcastle

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has lost 50 per cent of the dressing room as his second season at Old Trafford continues to explode, according to reports. And the Red Devils could hand Ten Hag the Jose Mourinho treatment this month if the crisis goes beyond the point of no return.

According to Kaveh Solhekol, during Monday’s broadcast of Sky Sports News, around half of the Dutchman’s squad has turned on him in recent weeks over several qualms.

It’s claimed that there is serious unhappiness about his style of play, and many believe he is too set in his ways and even robotic, alluding to man management flaws.

Players are said to feel like Ten Hag is training them too hard and making them run an excessive amount. Some “don’t even know what they’re running for.”

The report adds that some senior squad members have sat down with Ten Hag to lay out where they believe the club is going wrong.

During negotiations, some have reportedly informed him of their experiences at big clubs before United and admitted his man management could improve.

There also remains some opposition towards Jadon Sancho’s continued banishment. However, Sky Sports note that Ten Hag is unlikely to abort doing things his way.

United have already lost 10 games in all competitions this season, are out of the Carabao Cup and are on the brink of a Champions League group-stage exit.

It’s drawing alarming parallels to Mourinho’s final campaign at Old Trafford before his sacking on December 18, 2018.

Mourinho’s side were dumped out of the Carabao Cup third round at home to Derby County, and reports of the Portuguese coach losing the dressing room were rife.

On December 12, United faced Valencia in their final Champions League group-stage match. They suffered a 2-1 defeat but edged through as runners-up behind Juventus.

However, just days later, United travelled to Anfield to face Liverpool. A toothless 3-1 defeat left them seventh in the Premier League with 26 points from 17 games.
